Quick and easy

I've used Turbotax for many years, and it saves a lot of time importing data from last year. I really like the many forms that are auto-filled from just the investment data fields I fill in during the interview. The only downside is the many questions that do not apply but are included to maximize deductions. I sure I would love this feature if I got additional deductions from it! Luckily, the help function is good so it is easy to see what does not apply.
What's great about it: Handled all the investment transactions seamlessly
What's not so great: To insure everything is covered, there are lots of questions about things that don't apply and I have to look up.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Back from a spin with TaxAct

TurboTax really is easier and more intuitive to use than TaxAct.
However for the thousands (or millions) of us who tried TaxAct out when TurboTax got silly last year by not providing the needed features for investors at a reasonable price (until too late with a rebate or credit), it is really frustrating that TurboTax did not figure out I had a previous account and link back to previous TurboTax records.
Ideally TurboTax will create an account merge feature to allow previous tax records to be rolled up into one account.
What's great about it: More intuitive than TaxAct plus better help
What's not so great: Can't link current Turbotax account to the many past years.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Excellent Tax Software

Turbo Tax is easy to use and I find the screens easy to navigate. I believe my returns are rock solid and that gives me confidence and peace of mind.
What's great about it: The program walks you through the various aspects of the return. The screens are easy to navigate.
What's not so great: Can't always understand or find the calculations. Some numbers are a mystery.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments, I moved

2015 TurboTax Premier Review
on April 11, 2016

I have a moderately complex investment situation and would not be able to file my taxes correctly if I did this manually. TurboTax is good at walking one through all this and putting items where they belong. It also gives you a running estimate of taxes due (or refund due). However, every year I use TurboTax I get bugs and errors which (even after considerable research and rechecking entries) cannot be solved without "fudging' entries for items which are not relevant to me. These bugs should not occur, or I should be led directly to the correct section for each error. Also, the program did not offer me my Federal 2016 estimated tax vouchers so this is something I'll have to find somehow.
What's great about it: Essential when complex issues are involved
What's not so great: Bugs crop up every year for which there is no solution

Straightforward but with some chronic FTC issues

Please fix the foreign tax credit portion of the interview/data entry. It has been less than robust for YEARS NOW (since 2009). It won't permit taxes paid to different countries' be entered without complicated work arounds derived from the web. Fix or develop a guide for doing work arounds in house.
What's great about it: ease of use
What's not so great: foreign tax credit has been broken for years
