Who needs a pro?

Easy to use. But got an error message at the point of filing asking me to be sure that my program was up to date, which it was. Hit file again and it went through, I HOPE. Didn't need that little bit of panic at the end of 3 hours of filing.
What's great about it: Easy to use, Great help when needed.
What's not so great: Hard to go back and edit. Couldn't figure out how to delete a duplicate, but empty entry.

overall good, but difficulty with auto-update

I kept getting an error when selecting "update turbotax." It said the government didn't yet have the forms ready, even one week before filing deadline. Finally followed someones advice from the turbotax web and updated it manually. Thereafter, smooth sailing.
Never had this problem in the past with turbotax, and I've been using it for a few years now.

Initial Setup

Getting past the password & "Keychain" with Mac BAD. I> you got stuck in a loop that required a fair bit of research and problem solving. The answers that Turbo Tax provided were only partially correct.
Also could have used a heads up on some of the medical record keeping changes.

Improves every year

Have been using TT for at least 10 years and it has improved with time. For complex investment questions you sometimes still need to research IRS Pubs and override what TurboTax wants to default you into. Easy Step is great for initial data entry but it really is necessary to go to the Forms and review the Worksheets to make sure all the information is correct. I was frustrated by seeing incorrect items on forms but not being able to correct them until I went out to a Worksheet.
What's great about it: Easy initial entry
What's not so great: Still need to research some items

What's great about it: WORKS PRETTY WELL BUT SHOULD SHOW ACTUAL FORM WHEN EACH SECTION IS DONE.
What's not so great: I DON'T TINK I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY EXTRA TO E FILE STATE.CHEEZEYYYY

Combined Returns

I've used TurboTax for years for both mine and my boyfriends federal returns. We were married and doing my return, I started with my return and thought i would be able to merge them both being they were both TurboTax but no way. Dissappointing and frustrating, not easy. Missed oppertunity for TurboTax.
What's great about it: Having previous years info to tranfer
What's not so great: Couldn't retrieve 2 returns to combine

TurboTax Made Taxes Easy

My wife died in 2015 and I had concerns that I would have problems filing my return. I found that TurboTax led me through the IRA, stocks and savings issues which had worried me and answered all of questions along the way. It was a relief to be able to prepare my returns so quickly and find that there were no issues upon review.
What's great about it: Smooth process. Easy to follow. Questions quickly answered.
What's not so great: None
Pros: I bought or sold investments
