I like the step-by-step approach because

Turbo Tax is excellent but the e-filing costs money. It must be difficult for older, retired Americans. Is there a way seniors could get a discount on e-filing?
What's great about it: It is easy if one has everything in place
What's not so great: My bank's routing number was missing. Couldn't get it

Another smooth tax calculation and filing

Required # of days rented on rental income(loss) from K-1
My K-1 does not supply this info.
TurboTax should allow filing with this field either empty or have the program insert an acceptable value

What's great about it: Downloading of W2, and Investment information
What's not so great: Asked questions that can't be answered with information on K-1

Piece of cake!

TurboTax gets better every year. The ease of importing documents from my brokerage accounts, as well as from 'It's Deductible', makes it worth every (deductible) penny I spend. Although the tax laws change and new documentation is required, TurboTax walks me through the steps and makes me feel confident that I'm doing everything correctly.
What's great about it: Walked me through every step
What's not so great: None

Great product for a painful task

I have always done my own taxes and began using Turbo Tax in 2010 after having done them manually (on paper). I have been pleased with the product and several years ago I needed to purchase the Premier Edition to deal with investment income. I always have a difficult time with the Federal Tax Credit portion, and so today i availed myself of the Contact Us feature. The message said it could take up to 45 minutes before a person could be with me. I chose to have the system call me back (nice not to have to sit on hold) and was happy to see that it took less than a half hour for that to happen. The support person was very nice, calm, and helpful and was able to get me through that portion and stayed with me until I completed my federal return (which was only a few more sections). I was very pleased with the support assistance.
What's great about it: Step by step assistance plus ability to call and get support
What's not so great: Section on Federal Tax Credit is very confusing and needs work

Federal better than Arizona return

I have used Turbo Tax for several years, but last year was the first year I lived in an income tax state. With the Federal return, I could skip over sections and return later and fill in the blanks.
With the Arizona state return, after skipping over a section, when I tried to return, the program indicated that I wanted to file for an extension (which I did not). The only way to change that was to completely delete the state return and start all over again.
What's great about it: Import of info from banks and brokerage
What's not so great: State return not easily edited
Pros: I bought or sold investments

So Simple

Father passed and had to take funds and close some accounts my kids had with my name on the accounts. I thought I would be confused and end up owing a lot of money. Thanks to your program I understood, it was easy and got a refund (had to pay state though :^(. Thank you TurboTax for making it a pleasure to file taxes.
What's great about it: Ease and detailed coverage of everything.
What's not so great: Entering some of the info (not your fault)
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
