Always works

Liked- still efficiently completes tax forms. Flags are convenient for going back later. Have used TurboTax for over 20 years and plan to again next year.

Issues this time- See use of improper default value default listed above under Cons. Although this issue was addressed in the forum and selecting "Average Value" as an override was recommended, they did not say that you couldn't e-file if that option was selected.
Also- for some reason, although my brokerage account was listed under the downloaded files, the data from one mutual fund was not included in my return until I downloaded it again so that it was listed twice.

What's great about it: completed family multiple returns efficiently
What's not so great: Won't e-file w/overrides- "Comparable sales" shouldn't be the only acceptable value basis for charitably donated stock

Easy way to file each year

I used to do my taxes by pencil and paper that made a very long process. I have been using Turbo Tax over the past 5 years. It tells me right away how I should file and maximizes my deductions. It also does a thorough scan to provide me all of the credits available each return year.
What's great about it: Program is very userfriendly
What's not so great: First year I did not receive a net refund

Helping Thru Retirement

Very Helpful in being able to enter data from retirement investments.
I tried to enter my middle name which is Coke as a nickname but it wouldn't let me because some else used the same name.
What's great about it: Olde Folks Tax return
What's not so great: Filling out this review

Appreciate Turbo Tax. I'm such a procrastinator, but Turbo Tax makes doing taxes super easy, no matter how complicated your taxes are.

TurboTax with phone help

I've used TurboTax for many years, and usually just following the interview process was easy. This year, because of some rollovers of a 401k to an IRA, my tax situation was a little more complicated. I wasn't really sure I was answering all the interview questions correctly and reading the IRS instructions from the links in TurboTax was a bit confusing (as govt. documents can be.) So I called the TurboTax phone help line. I was informed that there was about a 20 minute wait to talk to someone, so my phone number was taken, and I was called back in about 15 minutes. The person I talked to was VERY helpful in clearing up my confusion on what needed to be entered into TurboTax. I am almost certain (as certain as you can be with the IRS) that everything is correct.
It did take me a little while to figure out how to get the phone number to call for TurboTax phone help, but other than that, using this years software worked well as it has for all the years I have used it.
What's great about it: Phone Help with some tax questions
What's not so great: A little difficult finding the phone # to call for Tax Questions

Long Time User - Still Satisfied

Nothing I can say will match the fact that I have been using TurboTax since it first appeared as MacTax. Never once have I regretted that choice. Further, using the program has made me much savvier in regards to tax situations and has frequently allowed me to plan ahead for the coming tax year.
What's great about it: Program seems able to handle anything
What's not so great: Some unusual situations need work-arounds and aren't possible in the online version

Difficult

My civil service retirement form 1099-R was treated as if it was an IRA so Turbo Tax went into a dead-end loop asking for IRA information from boxes that were not included on the 1099.There was no way to get additional information to resolve this. Your "Community" and FAQ's are useless. I need a way to resolve this and reading a lot of useless information doesn't help.
Type size in some areas was very difficult to read. There is no apparent way to increase the font size.
If you are seeking feedback, why do I need to enter Nickname and Email information? It should be anonymous.
What's great about it: Imported last years info and this years investments
What's not so great: Difficult to use. Many areas dont provide helpful additional information
