Three returns done with Premier
on April 10, 2016

A few years ago I realized that using the CD version was more cost effective for me. I help three family members with their taxes and all have different situations - Single, married with children and retired. Premier did the job for each one just fine. I entered data as I got it and saved and returned to the process numerous times without difficulty. Everything is saved to a flash drive and Premier remembers the location. Premier is a stable and reliable tool.
What's great about it: Software did not hiccup once!

inability to alter explanation fields; form 2441 needs statement about lack of EIN for provider. your software gives a limited number of canned responses and does not allow you to write in the actual situation, which I would had done if handwritten.
What's not so great: inability to alter explanation fields

Pretty good

We had an inherited 1099 that was still made out to the deceased. This needed to be carefully identified on our return as only having partial tax liability to us, but there was no way to do so other than writing this as a description in the payer's name field. Also, I didn't know that I can add supporting details until a friend pointed that out, by right clicking the entry box for the amounts. This was useful when separating out tax-exempt income for state tax purposes.
Overall, TT is a good product, but be prepared to invest some time to figure out the nuances. Also, have a copy of your state's and federal instructions handy, in case you need to revert to forms.
What's great about it: Walks us through most of what we needed to do.
What's not so great: Not evident how to add supporting details in 1009-DIVs and 1099-Bs.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

confusion between delux & premier software
on April 10, 2016

I am completely satisfied with the software for the ease, accuracy and record keeping for years. I have recommended to many of my family members and friends. I have also taught many how easy it is to prepare taxes.
What's great about it: I shave been using Turbo Tax since its inception.
What's not so great: more price for the same software I have used for years.

15 Year User Totally Satisfied!
on April 10, 2016

After using Turbo Tax since 2000 I am a very satisfied user. I find the software very comprehensive and thorough. In 16 years it covered all my tax situations save one (BP Oil Spill Compensation) which was very complicated. I talked to my tax advisor on how to handle BP compensation and, after she told me how to handle it, TT took the input and all worked well.
I will continue to use TT for the coming years.
What's great about it: TT is easy and user frendly.
What's not so great: Fee for efiling state returns seems excessive
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

The only issue I had with the software was the lack of warning regarding the importing of the 1099-B ESPP cost basis. The software does not warn you about adjusting the cost basis based upon the disqualified disposition amount.
What's great about it: Easy to user
What's not so great: ESPP Import issues
