Quick Prep for Elderly w/Only Investment Income

I prepare this return for my in-laws, currently 93 & 91 years old. Everything is very cut & dried, nothing tricky.

I have been using TurboTax and its predecessor versions for years. My tax situation is not excessively complicated, but it is not entirely straightforward either. (My retirement and other investments generate dividends and capital gains; I sometimes have unreimbursed or partially reimbursed professional expenses that I use to take deductions, etc.) TurboTax has always allowed me to handle my taxes accurately and well. Filing electronically is easy and rapid. All in all, over the years, Intuit tax software has performed extremely well for me. Highly recommended.
What's great about it: Two modes (guided interview or self-navigation), very thorough, self-updates, e-file is easy. Handles most situations.
What's not so great: a few complex situations are difficult to figure out and take effort
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Easy Tax Filing

I like how easy it is to go through each topic. When new information arrives in the mail, it was easy to go back and start at the appropriate topic. The step by step instructions reminded me of deductions I had forgotten about. The help instructions are clear.
What's great about it: The interactive step by step instructions are easy to follow and ensure that you do not miss any available deductions.

I've used Turbo Tax for 3 years now post divorce. It is has been much easier than expected. No Fears! No Tears!
What's great about it: very user friendly
What's not so great: cost!

Tax Cut keeps getting better and easier to use each year. I have done my taxes myself, used a tax service, used other tax programs and I have used Tax Cut. I have now used it for over 10 years. I have used it for personnel and for business (in the past). Just keeps getting better.

Dependable and an Awesome Tool

I have used MacIntaxTurboTax since its inception-first on Apple, then on Windows, and both have served us well. Over the past three decades we have purchased houses, rented properties and flipped real estate; moving seven times between two states. We raised a family of five children, including one adoption, this year our third graduates from college. We have been unemployed, employed, partially employed and had our own small business. We were audited in 2008 when we claimed a one year status as a professional realtor, and wished we had purchased audit protection. After a torturous year of compiling acceptable documentation of this difficult to document situation, we proved the claim using phone bills and dated gas receipts that acted as a GPS of our travels to and from the rentals. Luckily, we never exaggerate or over-claim, even on the softer issues. Tax software is a tool that is only as good as the information entered. As such, its use does not legitimate a scenario and has potential for nefarious activity as the range of human nature will always reign true.
However, kudos to Intuit. Throughout the years, you have remained fluid and responsive in light of the crazy and always changing tax rules in the US. This year I prepared our family taxes, as well as three of my children's taxes, as they become independent. The oldest then went online and filed his own after our joint trial run. I won't live forever, but I know Intuit will be there in my stead. You have served our family well, and will continue to into the future. Thank you.
What's great about it: Guides the organization of materials for efficient input
What's not so great: Failed required updates on laptop, had to switch to desktop to file

I have been using TurboTax since 2005. Wouldn't use anything else.
Prior to 2005 I remember using an old electric typewriter, with white-out as necessary, to complete my forms. Pure H---.
