Such assurance that I have paid the right amount.

I have used Turbo Tax to do my Income Taxes each year since 1995. Have never been audited and always get any refund quickly. I also like the convenience of paying any taxes owed by debit from my bank. Almost makes this yearly chore seem pleasant compared to all the paperwork needed to put pen to paper the "old fashioned way".
What's great about it: Updates with every change the government makes each year.
What's not so great: None

Better than a sharp stick in the eye

The State software asked stupid questions such as enter the following information for the state that is different from the Federal. How in the heck would I know? That's why I bought TurboTax!

- Brokerage downloads easy and fast.
- Occasional program freezes occurred with early versions, requiring reboot one time when it froze the OS; none experienced with later updates
- Entering ESPP sale data correctly without employer provided form 3922 could have been more intuitive; resolved with Customer Service help.
- Accuracy checks and e-filing impressively quick and effective.

2015 Tax Issue Resolved

Bond amortization was not being correctly calculated.
I spent 3 hours on the phone with help desk people.
The problem turned out to be negative entries on Box 13 of 1099-INT from imported data. (Support ID 417243352)
I was very happy that I was able to speak to real people at TurboTax to resolve this issue.

What's great about it: TurboTax does all the math for me.
What's not so great: Many calculations are hidden, and difficult to access.

TurboTax is a good program

I have been using TurboTax for years and have a very complicated return with rentals, various investments, capital gains, K-1s and Schedule C. Overall the product is good and relatively easy to use. Most years there is at least one glitch I encounter in the program that causes an error that must either be over-rided or fixed in some other way. This year I had an error associated with K-1, Line 16 G. I was able to do a work around. Some years I have been unable to e-file due to errors that had no workaround other than to override. Other than these small problems, Turbo Tax is the way to go.
What's great about it: I am familiar with the program
What's not so great: Problems with K-1 entry this year
