Getting harder to complete as an individual
on April 8, 2016
Posted by: selfersfornow
Some entries are difficult to understand what is being requested or asked.
Health care information seemed to be requested in many locations as walked through the guided method. Confusing.
In review for additional credits, it would be great if it defined additional ways to get more money back....ie. I selected Roth initially for retirement savings. Completed taxes. No indication that if I placed in IRA would result in greater refund.
Several times I wondered how much longer I will be able to complete taxes without having to go to someone.
What's great about it: Most entries (numbers from tax statements received) are easy entry
What's not so great: Entry items posed in unclear fashion, Miss ability to view form as entering guided information
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

My MAC locked up a number of times which it NEVER has in the past.
Easy to input but the state is the deal breaker.
What's great about it: I like the double check
What's not so great: Terribel switching to state and printing because all TT wants to do is e-File

Poor stock handling interface.
What's great about it: For the most part straight forward
What's not so great: How it handles stocks, especially RSUs. Very convoluted as to where to enter RSU information. Even help desk don't know
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I have been using TurboTax since it first became available and I won't use any other program. It's by far the best.
What's great about it: Once it booted up, the program was very easy to follow.
What's not so great: none

Listed interested correctly and it came up as an error.
I used part of refund to pay estimated tax - came up as an error.
It would not correct therefore I could not e-mail my form.
I have been pleased with Turbo Tax in the past, but this year was very frustrating.

Easy overall

Overall a great product to help file your taxes year to year. Love the YTY comparisons so you can see whether you may have overlooked something. Entering Job Search expenses is confusing - different types of expenses go on different forms. It would be good to have a step by step section on "Job Search Expenses" and enter them in one sequence, then have the software put the data on the right forms. The IRS pubs are no help - they mention that job search expenses can be entered on various forms yet provide no examples on how/where to do that correctly.
What's great about it: Step by step process along with direct access options
What's not so great: Confusing where to enter job search expenses
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
