Repeated failure of e-file transmission Have not experienced this in prior years using Turbo Tax e-file Don't know if the failure was with Turbo Tax or Internet service Very happy when it did transmit so I didn't have to file paper returns.

Easy to use

Have used TT for many years. It's easy to use and handles all of my needs. One glitch this year where it hung up on box 9a of a series of 1099-R entries.
What's great about it: Step by Step guidence
What's not so great: one glitch in handling 1099-R

Returned to TT

After sampling a competitor's tax software last year, I've returned to TT. The user interface seems much smoother and comprehensive. And since TT has returned to their old packages, TT Deluxe was adequate for my returns.
TT has increased the number of places from which you can import tax return data so that is a great convenience.
Overall a good experience.
What's great about it: Much better user interface that competitors
What's not so great: Some items such as investment interest from multiple states still obscure

Spotty Coverage

All the required forms are present, but tracking down the correct interview question can be difficult. Any time you must backtrack be very careful to double check your work by reviewing the relevant forms, as frequently previous answers from the interview will be retained if you go through specific topic more than once. Be prepared to read the real IRS instructions and do lots of google searches to get all the right answers. The built in help is very thin, and non-existent on some topics. Automatic form download doesn't always match up with previous year's info, requiring manual entry to make info bridge properly between years.
What's great about it: Filing is easy
What's not so great: You really have to dig deep.

Slightly frustrated

I had some angst with the data from Scottrade and Wellsfargo. Forgein tax. Why am I being asked about that. Scot trade schedule B information. These are standard transactions. Correct?
Why is the IRS concerned about the health care coverage? As a customer of TurboTax, I would like to see you petition on my behave to get the IRS out of my health care.
If you could clean up the data downloads from Wellsfargo and Scottrade, I would up a Star rating.

Made Complex Easy

Turbo tax is easy to use. Importing financial information eliminated work and frustration of multiple forms. In addition, some forms received did not correspond with turbotax. By importing, (I assume) TurboTax filled out the information appropriately.
What's great about it: Format easy to follow and questions were asked to assure completness
What's not so great: could be useful to save place where I left the proces and ask if I want to return there next time I started the return

Easy and Foolproof

This product has saved my wife and me a fortune in preparation fees. Our return is by no means simple, but Turbo Tax makes it easily feasible to do it ourselves. The guided process is lengthy but easy to follow and bulletproof. I have no plans to go back to professional preparation.
What's great about it: Easy to follow instructions, detailed description of entries to be made, option for guidance or DIY
What's not so great: Description of how to enter new or changed data could be better
