Charges to file my state tax refunds when I could have used other tax software that files for free. I have used Turbo tax for several years but that is it for me. Next year I am using other software that does not charge to file state tax returns
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Charges to file my state tax refund when I could have filed for free using other tax services

It took a while to use TurboTax, but it was most helpful and very thorough. I have used it for years and feel assured using it.
I don't purchase it online but buy it at stores.
What's great about it: very detailed questions using EasyStep
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Remembering the old days when I bought all the instruction books and collected multiple IRS instruction books, and worked until early morning hours calculating entries for each line of each form and checking, rechecking and then checking the entries again, I think TurboTax is great.
What's great about it: easy to use and completed all forms automatically

Except for "Auto Refund" processing fee its a good program.
What's great about it: easy
What's not so great: price to deposit return, maybe next year wait for a check instead of paying auto deposit
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Good Easy tax prep for Federal and State return.

I used the TurboTax to do our own joint return and my grown son return. I e-filed son federal and mailed state return.
After e-filing federal, TurboTax should print the state printed forms correctly so the forms are correctly printed to put in envelope and mail. The back of state forms had other information that was not part of state return information that is mailed.
Not sure why all the tables used in return are sent in electronic submission with the tax forms! Federal forms do not need the tables used to calculate the values in form.
On my joint return, the Personal Property tax entry in Deductions that was wrong could not be corrected or removed. The online TurboTax feedback to question on removing personal property tax did not work. I did get rid of personal property tax bringing up all the forms in View ---> Forms. I found the form with entry for personal property tax and deleted the form. This is dangerous since this brute force method may make the whole return unusable. You could direct someone to a call number to walk them through it. No idea why the form got added since I never selected boat, rv or rental property.
Being more Upfront on costs. You say e-file federal is free indicating efile with state may have charge. You never know what the charge for state e-file (or if the state does efile) until after you efile the federal. Then you see the charge for state e-file. This should be stated upfront when the state return is prepared.
What's great about it: The walkthrough is easy
What's not so great: Errors that could not be corrected
