Last year I paid a CPA to do our taxes because we had many changes. This year I got the pro version of TurboTax and used last year's as a check after the first go-around with TurboTax. It was nearly all correct, with a few small items that the CPA did that TurboTax did not.
Bottom line - TurboTax pro is pretty good and even better if you have a professional to guide you or review and point out any additional discrepancies.

What's great about it: Pro version asked all the right questions
What's not so great: Still found hints from CPA not in turbotax

Very thorough questions

I will continue to use Turbo Tax because I am confident that all bases were covered when I finished. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that the "Continue" button was so far from most of the questions that I had to do a lot of scrolling to get to it. I would have liked the button to be directly under each item-- only scrolling for the more detailed items. Otherwise, I liked everything. I felt confident that I understood the questions.
What's great about it: Had a question for everyone of my incomes and deductions. l

THE ONLY WAY TO GO!

I don't think I could do my taxes thoroughly without Turbo Tax and I am a retired CPA! I have used Turbo Tax for years with confidence and will continue to do so as I have tried other programs and find turbo tax the best to use and got it this year for my daughter to use and she was very happy even though she is not an accountant and has always, for 10 to 15 years, has had the taxes professionally done because she is a teacher and her husband is self employed. Her refund was more and she was very happy! I always get this program and will continue to do so and to recommend it, which I have done so many times.
What's great about it: very thorough, you don't miss anything
What's not so great: some things I think I should have been able to deduct, i couldn't

worst year so far for turbo tax

software not acceptable this year.
when your done with one question it goes back to the beginning instead of the next question.
efiled fed and was going to mail state. I couldn't get back to mailing state. very frustrating!!!!!

Easier than trying to explain to a Tax Preparer

It would definitely be easier to fill out another tax form after completing the first. I would have saved time if I would have first completed all the straight-forward entries and then return to some of the more difficult entries. Without knowing what questions were to follow, I tried to fit some answers prematurely, only to find the correct category later.
What's great about it: Downloads my stock forms from my broker.
What's not so great: State efile a little pricey.

TurboTax Premier

Last year getting the Audit-Defense was a bit of a hassle but this time had no problems. If next year's release is going to import all my rental property info INCLUDING a little extra help with loss/carryovers I'll be truly pleased.
What's great about it: Convenient, cost-effective alternative to wading through piles of paper forms
What's not so great: This year nothing much comes to mind.. nearly painless!
