I have used Turbo Tax to do my taxes for the past 7(seven) years. It just gets better and easier every year. I am a loyal fan of this program and am not going to use any other program but Turbo Tax. Thanks to the great job of a program. This year was the easiest and fastest that I have ever had.

No Stress Tax Filing

Turbo Tax is designed to be a tax preparing, and filing system but also gives sensible and sound alternatives to consider in what information is needed to file.
What's great about it: Very logical and thorough walk through process
What's not so great: Some cumbersome screens to have to scroll through at the end

A few glitches

It seemed all 1099-Rs were handled as if they were an IRA or something akin. Thus, when they were from a regular, old-fashioned pension plan some of the questions TTax asked were not applicable.
What's great about it: It got the job done w/o too much hassle, but...
What's not so great: The way 1099-Rs were handled led to confusion.

Super Easy to Use

Great product.
What's great about it: Easy to use, especially if you used Turbo Tax last year.
What's not so great: Would like to be able to provide direct input to fields where you know should be populated with a $0.

Thirty years of experience

TurboTax found errors and asked for input but didn't show where the error was in the forms. Some old input tables used for detailed expenses from business were no longer pertinent but it wouldn't allow me to erase them. Another 'error' was that a 1099R didn't show the recipient. I went over and over the forms and couldn't find where the blank line was.
I don't expect to use TurboTax again after using it for over 30 years.
What's great about it: i feel that it is very complete and thorough
What's not so great: It was very hard to correct

I have used TurboTax for several years with good results. Program is excellent but for inconsistencies in the filing segment, particularly at the point of obtaining and using the dreaded PIN.
I obtained an IRS PIN from their website ( it has 5 digits - Inserted the 5 digit number - was rejected because the PIN must have SIX digits. I ,deleted the PIN numbers and continued with the PIN field blank. System sez e filing was successful but I am nervous my return will be sidetracked. :If it is delayed or returned, I will be a very unhappy taxpayer

I saved $600+!

I had a bit more complicated return this year (sold a home that was used as a rental for a few years) so I needed to talk to a tax professional. I was pretty impressed: after I entered my request online to talk to a tax pro, I was called back within 10 minutes, even though the estimated wait time was posted as 20 minutes. Well done...way to "under promise but over perform!"
The estimate i got from HR Block was close to $800 for their services. Granted, I had to put in some hours of time in myself, but still..saved me over $600.
One more reason i will be back next year.

What's great about it: User friendly, great explanations of complex matters broken down for laymen/non-accountants! great customer service
What's not so great: I was confused by instructions about AGI for MN state filing and ended up purchasing the download version by accident
