Super Easy and a great refund

What's great about it: Ease of use, speed to complete
What's not so great: none
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

DIY Taxes

I'm 75 years old. It took me just one day to collect my papers then fill in the blanks in TurboTax. My background is technical and not financial, yet it was easy to understand. Well done!
What's great about it: Leads you by the hand
What's not so great: Should deduct the cost of filing with the state as part of the preparation costs.

Having uncorrected system problems is frustrating

I really like how the program will walk me through step-by-step so that I make sure to fill out all the forms that pertain to my situation. It prompts me to check things that I may not be aware of doing. I also really like the "It's Deductible" information. I would not really know the value of many of the items that I have donated.That was a big help.
Lastly I ended up having questions so called the Turbo Tax help line. The representative helped me through one section that I was not quite understanding. It was a big relief to feel that I wasn't just guessing as to how to fill out the form (or whether it even pertained to my tax situation).

Signature identification - one item is ambiguous

To verify a persons identity, the program asks for last year's Adjusted Gross Income for EACH PERSON in a joint return. If the same dollar amount is given for each person, TurboTax treats the answer as double the total income for the return and the program hangs up without explanation. The only solution is to assign the AGI to the first person of the joint return and leave the AGI as a BLANK response.
What's great about it: Excellent communication by programmers
What's not so great: only one potentially serious stumbling block

I input all my info on Windows 10 machine, than electronically transferred to ty daughters MAC. She made some corrections, but I could not bring back the info to my computer

Found an error

I inadvertently typed a different number from a W2 between boxes 1 and 2. Realize that could be right with pretax contributions but a box saying " you typed a different number in boxes 1 and 2, is this correct?" would alert someone to double check this process. I only found it when I thought the amounts were too high after I completed the W2 section and went back over them again. These W2's could not be imported.
What's great about it: Not having to do an amended report
What's not so great: Need to tweak the program to do an audit
