Easy as Pie

It's one of the easiest ways to do your taxes, yourself. It walks you through the whole process, and asks question the whole way. If you used the program the year before then it will search for it on your computer to help shorten the process. I have had no problems using Turbo Tax for the last 20 years.
What's great about it: Walked me through the whole process, and questions I had were answered by the hyperlinks in the program.
What's not so great: Had some problems finding my last year info on my external hard drive.

Overall Turbo Tax 2015 was easy to use and user friendly. It had good drill down on the explanations. The only drawback I saw was it could have better memory where the user left off but it went back to the beginning.
What's great about it: Pretty user friendly and easy to use
What's not so great: Could have better memory where you left off
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I spend more time trying to get the right answer out of TurboTax. I know what I want it to do - then have to trick it to do what I want (grrrr)
What's great about it: math check of the numbers
What's not so great: hard to find how TurboTax interpreted situations

Turbo Tax expensive
on April 4, 2016

I got a letter on one of 3 sent in. They caught an error and asked for more information. It increased the refund about $700. On one I was trying to delete a work sheet and it would not let me do it. It is to expensive. If I hadn't started using it years ago I would change vendors. I may have to next year.
What's great about it: Answers questions
What's not so great: sent me down the wrong path several times.

Another Refund!

My 15th year using TurboTax to complete my returns and it just keeps getting better. The format is very user friendly and easy to use. All I have to do is key in the appropriate information and in a matter of hours my returns are complete (and mine aren't easy as I do a federal and 2 state returns which include buying and selling a home, and employment in a state other than my residency). The only difficult item is that it is hard to see where numbers are being applied prior to printing a copy. If you want to see the actual forms and worksheets, make sure you have access to the proper version of the software.
What's great about it: Easy to use, user friendly format, clear instructions and process
What's not so great: Difficult to figure out where numbers are being applied prior to printing return
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Continuing incompatibility between the online and download version
Overall, the program is easy to use and fits most of the situations for my return. The odd items generally could be handled through previously asked questions.
Unfortunately, for at least the past 2 years there has been a compatibility problem in using the online version after having used the downloaded version. The previous year's information imports incompletely. This year, I did not notice that some of the 2014 information was missing until I had nearly completed my 2015 return online.
At the suggestion of the Turbotax help person, I attempted to upload the ".tax2014" file. The attempt only succeeded in wiping out all the work I had done on the 2015 return, without importing the 2014 information.
At the suggestion of another Turbotax help person, I purchased the download version of Turbotax and started over. This did correctly import the 2014 data. I was assured that this problem would not occur if I used the online version next year. However, I had received a similar assurance last year.
What's great about it: Generally easy to use, walks you through scenarios that cover most situations
What's not so great: Continuing incompatibility between the online and download version
