See note in "cons" above. Need better and clearer guidance on ISO stock options sales if proceeds are included in your W2. Very hard to find the help on this topic. Almost completed return with double taxation if I didn't stop to rethink why such a high payment required.

What's great about it: Does a nice job of making sure you cover everything and lets you know what is missing or needs fixed.
What's not so great: Had trouble running the updates a few times...program would freeze. Never happened before but finally worked later.

This year, I was dealing with inheritance after the death of my father and the closure of his estate. With all of the things that I had to deal with, entering it through TurboTax was the easiest thing. I had situations occur that I have never had occur in the past and I don't expect again, but it worked out fabulously and I was finished a lot faster than I expected. Hooray for TurboTax
However, some of the wording is still not easy to understand and the stupid tv commercials don't even hit on the really hard stuff. So if I am a degreed accountant and some of it is hard for me to understand, think about those people who aren't skilled in accounting....
What's great about it: Fast and easy
What's not so great: Still confusing to an accountant at times--so what is it like for a non-professional?
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I love TurboTax

I've been using TurboTax for years. I love how it provides step by step instructions and makes it easy for users to feel rest assured in filing their taxes. It also helps educate me more in areas that are more complex such as selling RSUs or ESPP. Turbo Tax actually makes filing taxes kind of fun, crazy as it may sound! That's how easy Turbo Tax has made it for people like me.
What's great about it: Step by step instructions
What's not so great: More examples
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Exceptionally Easy...

This was probably either my 5th or 6th year filing my federal income taxes with "TurboTax" and this was far & away the easiest...
Prior to filing with them I had always just done my own thing, never using any other available tax preparation, and manually filled-out a 1040 Form, which then involved a whole bunch of Schedules, Tables, and other miscellaneous paperwork.
When I finally took the plunge several years ago, obviously being a first-time user required me to fill each and every field in. But now, everything gets imported from the previous year making it so easy. This year, however, being much more well versed with everything, plus just being more organized, in general, with all of my paperwork, it just really seemed easy and relatively painless! I was able to complete the entire process - from start to finish - in just the matter of a few hours while watching a basketball game - just FANTASTIC!!

Again, as mentioned above, the only 'Con' I might have would just be that when I first started using this software, at the beginning, it was a little confusing since it seemed that procedurally, I was skipping all over the place with the information being asked. However, having gotten the final desired results, and now just being used to the format - No Problem with that!
THANKS TurboTax for such great tax preparation software!!!
What's great about it: So easy, almost makes filing taxes not feel like a chore!
What's not so great: A little confusing, sequentially, if used to filling out a 1040 Form.

The first year I used TurboTax, I was literally saved $3000 over what my accountant would have filed for me. That was about 1995, and have been using TurboTax ever since. I learn what to save records for.
Nearing retirement, I upgraded to Premier, biting at the promise of assistance with 1099-R management. For my situation, there was no appreciable difference between Deluxe and Premier.
Tax law may have changed concerning IRA Traditional and Roth from previous years.
What's great about it: Walks me through each step, transfer from last years' record is easy.
What's not so great: Upgrade to Premium was not what I expected
