Another Great Tax Prep & Filing Experience!
on April 3, 2016

I had a missing data element and was brought to the Federal carryover worksheet state/local id. It was not clear what I had to do and perhaps there is a way to provide guidance. I saw that others had similar questions about this error.
What's great about it: Great User Interface; Easy Pacing
What's not so great: The two edits I had to fix were not easy to understand

Overall ok. Need to improve entering rental income from farm land. I entered income from farm land as Rental Income (Sched E). Later, I ran into a question asking if I had income from a farm, including rent. I answered yes. I was directed to enter 1099 Misc for that income. I did. Later, I had a total income amount reflecting entering the same rental income twice. How about attaching a note to the farm income question stating that if one has entered land rental income on Sched E, then no need to list it as "Farm Income". With present software interaction is confusing.

2015 Return
on April 3, 2016

Been using TT for over 30 years. Use to be a great product and recommended it to everyone. Can no longer do that. TT getting worse each year. No navigation flexibility. Program locks you in one track. Help topics not thorough enough. Should include examples not just explanation. If you elect to not e-file state, should allow you to print the return for mailing. Should not have to hunt for a print command to print it for mailing. Should not have to pay $25.00 more for state electronic filing. Sorry to say after all these years, I may have to consider alternative for 2016.
What's great about it: Walks you through most common categories. great for simple rest
What's not so great: no flexibility in navigation. Can't get at appropriate topics. State tax form should have allowed to enter previous pa
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

When an issue or question arises when enter data in EasyStep, and then I go to Forms, the linkage of numbers between the two data entry modes is quite poor.
I have a pretty good sense of the tax Code, but still find this aspect frustrating.
Older version to TurboTax were better in this area.
What's great about it: Basic entry of data in Easy Step mode is pretty straightforward
What's not so great: Form data entry is less clear
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

Charged to E-file State Return
on April 3, 2016

I may have to re-evaluate using Turbo-Tax again. The charge to e-file my state return is ridiculous. There should be no charge to e-file anything.
Other software doesn't charge and next year and subsequent years will be different for me. I won't pay again to e-file.
What's great about it: Easy to use....feel confident that it captures all of my deductions.
What's not so great: The charge to E-file my state return is ridiculous!! There should be no charge to e-file any of the returns.
