TurboTax 2015

This is the 4th year I have used TurboTax. It is very user friendly and covers all possible tax issues. I apprieciate that it allows you to file on-line not only the Federal, but also state returns. I like the fact that you can work on your taxes, save the file and then come back at another time and continue to work on your taxes again.
What's great about it: Exceelent walk-trhu instructions and comprehensive

It seems no matter what the question Turbo Tax has the answer! Been using Turbo Tax for years and have never had a problem. Fantastic and quick.

Great Software but falls short on AMT

Turbo-tax has always been my go-to tool for preparing my income taxes. I love the program and it makes it much easier that just trying to use the forms and instructions. And much cheaper than going to a tax preparer (and maybe still not getting the return prepared properly).
The only area I really have a problem with is the preparation of Alternative Minimum Taxes. The program has this function, but it is so much more difficult to understand than the other areas. The instructions are inadequate as are the descriptions of just what is being asked for. That is an area where you guys really need work. This area added greatly to my time in preparing my taxes. If there was another program that handled this better and also handled the rest of the tax preparation as well as Turbo, then I would have to move my tax preparation to that platform.
What's great about it: Easy to use. Love the import function for investments
What's not so great: Lousy on Alternative Minimum Taxes. Inadequate instructions. Still don't know if I did it right.

Overall very good tool. Needed to spend time analyzing what was going on though.
What's great about it: Used several return files to see how additons effect tax
What's not so great: Could use a more comprehensive sumary and ability to exprt summay to excel.

Disappointed in Turbo Tax this year

So far, this year I have not had a good experience with Turbo Tax -- and I have used it since it first came out. Thought I e-filed my son's taxes and needed to amend them. The $$$ amount viewed always showed $0. It turned out, the taxes never e-filed and I had to re-enter everything again to get them corrected.
Now I am re-thinking my taxes since I am told I owe $$$ with little change to our income. My father who is 94, low income, has never had to pay taxes now does.

What's great about it: Sure, It was easy to use as always. I've been using turbo tax since it first came out. This year I had issues with it.
What's not so great: Thought I had efiled taxes for my son. Turned out I did not, then tried to ammend his taxes. $'s viewed wern't correct.

7th year in a row with T Tax

Can't imagine doing my taxes the old fashioned manual way, especially with complex investment income. Handled my one time electric car Federal credit as well. Highly recommend to others.
What's great about it: Easy downloads from financial institutions, handled special tax credit that had me stumped
What's not so great: Lots of periodic software updates, although probably not the fault of Intuit

Have been using TT for years now. Fed Return is mostly straightforward. Quality of State Return guidance is much weaker, at least for state of WI. Would like to see higher quality product in state returns going forward.

It Works!

Overall, after you've completed compiling all of your back-up, the input is relatively straight forward.
What's great about it: Do the input at your own leisure
What's not so great: You need to do all the backup first, and then do the input
Pros: I bought or sold investments
