Tax Prep Made Easy

This program makes filing your taxes easy and fun. If you can read, then you can file a complicated return. Every form you could possibly need is in this program. It walks you through the process step by step and line by line if you want it to. You can elect to skip around and do it your own way. All the math is done for you, and the information is put of the proper forms.
What's great about it: I liked the fact that I could download my stock information which could take hours of number crunching.
What's not so great: If you have a complicated return, the process can get tedious, but it is easy.

after over 10 years of using Turbo tax--this was my first bad experience--it would not let me efile for fed or stste and not knowwhy-stste got in loop

Tough Time finding Solar tax rebate

I had a hard time finding where the Tax Rebate form was.
In previous years there was a section about the Tax Rebates in the State section.

Mixed feelings

We have used TurboTax Premier for several years. Some of the wording is very confusing. Some categories are not part of the step-by-step - or are not clearly marked in the step-by-step. We got all the way through and realized we had not seen a place to enter Social Security Income. After editing a section it might be nice to be able to skip the rest of the section instead of having to answer the same questions again.
What's great about it: Step by Step Process is an asset. Very helpful
What's not so great: Some steps are not included - such as investment income/loss. Found it by searching.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Turbotax adviser was exceptional!

Without 3 hours plus of on the phone/ interface with a Turbo Tax adviser there is NO WAY I could have figured out what was going on with our complicated return due to the sale of a rental property that was also occupied for 2 of 10 years, as a primary residence. We met the IRS qualifications for an exclusion, but the Turbo Tax online method did not allow the deduction and kept automatically charging capital gains and overtaxing incorrectly due to special clause allowing military time extension. IT WAS ONLY DUE TO KAREN, our online tax specialist, who walked me through the process and went through our return with a fine toothed comb, that we were finally able to get the system to accept the deduction we were eligible to receive and get our taxes filed properly. She truly cared about helping us and sifting through the glitches to get it right! Thanks so much! What a relief to have it completed. Ultimately, it saved us a bundle!
What's great about it: Got the help I needed & it saved us from paying too much
What's not so great: Standard prompts did not handle military rental property correctly

Struggled a bit with State

I really appreciate the ease with which TurboTax walks you through most things. I struggled with figuring out how to input the 529 education contribution though in order for it to be deducted from my state refund. I also don't appreciate the extra filing charge for e-filing the state return.
What's great about it: I love that most items are automatically downloaded in the correct places.
What's not so great: I was a little lost on how to input the Education 529 contributions
