Owen Tax Filing

Overall Turbo Tax is great, I use it every year for the past 10 or more years... It gets better each year... Quick and easy and being able to download the data from my institutions is great.
What's great about it: Love the questions and ease of use. I loved I can download my stock transactions and other investments.
What's not so great: Didnt find any

Ambiguous Wording

Some important items should be highlighted in red as a warning. If entering data for a rental property it should be noted in red where to place specific information so it doesn't end up in two schedules on the return. Schedule A versus Schedule E.
What's great about it: Easy to use, step by step instructions
What's not so great: There are sections with ambiguous wording; starts out discussing singular taxpayer but also means joint taxpayers
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

K-1 Frustration

Overall the program does a fine job if your return is simple. The ability to work on the parts for which you have data is great. Also being able to return to the entry source from IRS forms is a great help.
One quirk for entering the K-1 data was having to re-enter ownership each time as if it would change between re-visits to the entry steps. All other selections were recorded and did not have to be re-freshed.
Don't count on helpful error notes when it thinks you have made a bad entry or need to add additional data. When it suggests a K-1 needs to be entered into multiple TurboTax forms, there are no instructions on how the program will distinguish that other forms for the same company are followed in the program. After several hours of trying to find a correct way of entering the data, it was just deleted and the problem went away. The real irony is that it did not change the tax liability.
That is a good thing in reality.

"What a Relief"

I feel confident that I have done a microscopic review of my tax situation whenever I get through using Turbo tax software. That means no further interference by "Big Brother" in my life. For 2015 taxes, that is.
What's great about it: Very specific detailed review.
What's not so great: Some minor sotware problems related to my specific situation as a retired federal emoployee.

Fantastic Filing...experience!

I put this off until the last minute..even though I say 'next year'...I file for my 3 sons and myself..and I HATE numbers and accounting stuff..Turbo makes it easy..ier.. and the uploading from previous years is GRAND!
What's great about it: Easy, uploaded previous info..made it so less stressful
What's not so great: Paying taxes...
