What's great about it: Good Format
What's not so great: Payment for State Return needs to be free and online process more direct to pay filing fee

Overall, a good experience. The only negative was the inability of the deluxe version of the software to deal with an ESOP stock sale. The sales were associated with the Medtronic Inversion stock conversion to Medtronic PLC stock. Once I upgrade to the premium version, the ESOP stock sale information was very straight forward.
What's great about it: Easy to use, consistent format with previous years.
What's not so great: Needed to upgrade to premium version to accurately deal with ESOP stock sales

So easy!

I have done my taxes with Turbo Tax for several years now. We moved to a different state this year and I was hesitant as to how it would go. Turbo tax walked me through step by step and told me what info they needed for my tax forms. It can be a little confusing because they are, after all, taxes but I did feel confident in the end!
What's great about it: step by step
What's not so great: taxes can still be confusing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

Not so easy

Did not see last years data in many cases.

Medical expenses not as clear as usual - it would help to enter Total Out-of-Pocket Medic.Exp (excl. insurance premiums) and then break down this amount - Medical facilities, co-pays, drugs, etc)

Was not clear that last years applied tax credit was being added to this years paid estimated taxes.
What's great about it: Still less expensive than going to a CPA
What's not so great: Not as easy as usual

They went the Extra Mile!

I have been filing taxes for 50+ years both for myself and for other people. Turbotax is doing a tremendous amount of thinking, calculating, and insertion of data in the proper places of the various forms. It was a pleasant experience from what used to be a dreaded excercise. I am a BIG proponent of the FLAT TAX, but until it comes, I will use TurboTax.
What's great about it: Very straight forward approach to the process.
What's not so great: The Smart check does not link you back to where a correction needs to be made.

This time it took me less time than any time before to enter and record my taxes. I especially like the search for looking things up. I may have missed it but I think as I fill out my beginning info. if there was a place to let the program know of events like for example the sale of a 2nd home, unemployment income, short term disability insurance income or inheritance. Like a box like what I have here to list out any unusual things this year so I would be directed to the correct place to enter the info. when I get to the correct section. Like a question pops up: "Did you sell a 2nd home this year? That would be great. I also think it should be easier to move around in the program and go back to a certain section to add info. if there is one I didn't catch it. For example, I like to do my earned income 1st and finish with it and then go in and enter other income.
What's great about it: this program just gets easier to use each time I use it.
What's not so great: would like a way of informing the program of events to help guide me later.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
