Not another OS upgrade!

The only reason that I have to keep upgrading my OS is to use TurboTax. After the first two, my laptop became obsolete. Then, I needed to go through a complicated and expensive upgrade on my desktop right in the middle of tax season. Now I get a pop-up telling me this is the last year that you will support my current OS. I will now have to find out whether my computer can handle another inconvenient and expensive upgrade. If not, I'll have to replace yet another computer just to use TurboTax. I can hire a CPA for less.
I have used TurboTax for over ten years, but this may be the last. Intuit seems determined to drive me away.

What's great about it: Easy to use; I like the way it gathers information from prior returns.
What's not so great: Forces needless OS upgrades on my otherwise perfectly good computer.

2015 Turbo Tax Review

Sees Intuit would have been on top of this frustration, but for gambling winnings from the same establishment, it was frustrating to re-enter the location information repeatedly. A drop down box after entering it once would be great!

I've used Turbotax in previous years but we made a lot of changes this year, so i wasn't sure how well I could handle this myself. We sold our primary home of 30 years and moved into a rental that we had owned for 13 years. I looked up how to calculate the rental income, the taxes and insurance by the months it was rented and felt confident it was correct. We had made several changes in our investment account and were concerned about entering that in the correct boxes, but the program was able to pull all that and place it on the correct forms. I did print it out to verify the figures to our 1099 from our investment company and it seemed correct. So now we wait and see if its audited. Its alot less costly than my previous accountant would have charged.
What's great about it: i was able to pull information from investments
What's not so great: i had to study the forms by printing them out

Almost perfect

Federal return chose standard deduction as best for my situation. Arizona return used itemized deductions due to differences in allowable deductions for state vs. federal return. However, Arizona filing instructions require Federal Schedule A to be included with the mailed-in return if itemizing deductions. This is not a new requirement, so one would think that by now, the Federal Schedule A would automatically be generated when the user is itemizing deductions for Arizona. It's not easy for the user to produce a 1040 Schedule A after choosing the standard deduction; in fact I gave up and paid the extra fee to E-file the Arizona return.
What's great about it: Generally easy to use
What's not so great: Conflict between instructions for Federal and Arizona returns

disappointed with the non responding errors....

I like the product but it did not want to run efficiently on my new PC with windows 10. I consistently got a non-responding error code and it froze up many times while the software tried to "catch up"
What's not so great: continuous non-responding errors with new pc and win10

TAXES MADE EASY

I have been using TurboTax for over 10 years. It gets better every year. You can either let the program guide you through every tax item to make sure you don't miss any important items or, for the experienced tax preparer, you can go right to the needed sections to complete your return. TurboTax covers you all the way.
What's great about it: It's a guided tour through your taxes.
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

It's O.K.

Over all this is above average software. It could be more intuitive in the Step-By-Step process by going back to the unit instead of going back to the section heading.
When I updated from Deluxe to Premier mid-stream, some of the entries made in the deleuxe version were not handled properly in the premier version.
To get "HELP" is somewhat cumbersome, but once I got there the help I got was very good.
What's great about it: It does cover all the IRS rules well
What's not so great: Questions not always detailed enough, you cannot alasy tell where an item needs to be entered.
