my experience with TT2015

Overall I like Turbo Tax. Small snags pop up year to year. This year I could not roll over my federal tax refund into next year.. in previous years I could. The community had no answers that worked for me. I also had difficulty paying for state tax filing to the 'store'. Eventually I was able to make payment after three tries. Small problems but still annoying.
K1's (form 1065) are never fun to enter and when the review is performed additional confusing questions are also presented.

What's great about it: Easy to get program on computer and populate previous info
What's not so great: K1 info entry, small snags hard to resolve

TurboTax Rocks

We used an accountant for years to prepare our taxes. On a whim, I purchased TurboTax for my son, who has no complicating tax factors (investments, retirement accounts, 401k's, etc.). We sat and did his taxes and it was so easy, we decided to try it with our slightly more complicated return. The program leads you step-by-step and has excellent help features, if needed. We entered the information in less than a day, and we went really slow to ensure we didn't miss anything. We also use Quicken, so the interface between the two programs on things like 1099-DIV and 1099-INT forms made this really easy. TurboTax and Quicken also analyzed our medical expenses! While we didn't qualify for any deductions, at least we were certain we didn't miss any possible deductions.
Overall, I would rate TurboTax very high and will be recommending to family and friends in the future. Top Notch!

What's great about it: Very intuitive and self explanatory

Finally Done

I have used Turbo Tax for years. This is the first time I had problems getting my prior year financial data to update correctly. I had to go into my rental property forms form 2014 and manually input some of the information that printed correctly at the end of 2014 but was missing on the 2015 transfer. I tried it twice with the same results. The positive is: I was able to manually input it in forms mode.
What's great about it: Thorough
What's not so great: Seems to get more complicated each year.

Good product but ....

Had a little trouble with investment income that may have US government bonds in it. I use a couple bond mutual funds and I believe they purchase gov't bonds from time to time. Never sure where to find that information or even if it applies in my case because I'm using a mutual fund??
What's great about it: Generally liked the forms and how they tie the boxes on forms to data entry
What's not so great: Couldn't get "Learn More" to work! Used search function instead.

Easy as Usual

I have used Turbo Tax for at least 15 years and continue to find it helpful and easy to use.
One glitch: I e-filed and elected to pay by debit to my bank account. The printed summary stated that I was paying by check and included the form to mail. Now i am wondering if the payment will be made as I selected. This is not good!

What's great about it: I love being led through each section of the return.
What's not so great: I wish the download was up to date and didn't require an update after installation.

2015 Turbo Tax

Had several intersting issues to deal with this year - lost a job, sold a piece of land, rolled over a retirement account, had IRA CD mature, medical insurance subsidy, etc. Turbo Tax helped me thru each and every step in simple language I could understand. Also offered suggestion at the end to help me save money - ended up getting a refund instead of having to pay Federal by contributing to our IRAs before April 18th and applying that contribution to the 2015 tax year. Thank you!
What's great about it: Walks you thru all steps asking questioin in language one understands.
What's not so great: Didn't find any!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Tax prep made simple

I have used Turbo tax for a number of years now and have found the software and instructions very easy to follow, the import option for entering information is fantastic.
The only issue I had this year was that the software sometimes "hung up" in the Healthcare section but quitting and reopening Turbo tax cleared the issue.
