Made Life Easy

This system walked me through virtually everything my accountant used to do. They didn't miss a beat. User friendly. It was even fun to watch my refund mount every time I made an entry. And who in their right mind can say taxes are fun!
What's great about it: Simple to follow step by step
What's not so great: kept telling me I had upgrades to download virtually every day - maybe I did

ok but rental property could be clearer

qoverall good - much better than paying someone else to do it - but I have a rental property in a nonresident state.
Eventually I found the Q&A which said I needed to do federal tax, followed by non-resident state tax followed by resident.
This was not clear and the system should guide you through that. Consequently I nearly overpaid NJ tax by 1500
What's great about it: informative
What's not so great: could be clearer/more intuitive
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Missed a Deduction

On final review, TT missed a deduction that I had last year. It was Investment expenses, including IRA fees. I waited for a week to file to see if I had all my data inputted correctly. I wondered if I had entered the investment deductions, but I had not. I made the correction and now am ready to file.
What's great about it: Every thing went smoothly
What's not so great: Missed several deductions that I had last year on review.

High Confidence and Relieability

I have use turbo tax for more than 10 years and continue to have high confidence that my taxes are completed accurately. I always use the interview process to cover all of the areas that are to be addressed because it thoroughly performs this function. I have never been audited. the few issues I have had were not attributed to the application program.
What's great about it: Straight forward interview methodology makes it easy
What's not so great: no correlation or visibility of forms used during interview process
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I have used Turbo Tax since available, normally to problem in paying. This time every time I tried it wouldn't let me change my password. No idea why but it sure made the process trying.
What's great about it: NORMALLY easy
What's not so great: Pure pain to pay for return

Absolutely hands down the best tax preparation product on the market. If you could only replace the Internal Revenue Service.
Between TT and the IRS ... the parties need to come up with a method of eliminating tax identity fraud.
What's great about it: Downloading stocks sales with cost basis is a breeze. With more than 100 transactions, i can't imagine not using TT.
What's not so great: Entering gain/loss from the sale of MLP's and related 4797 gains is a bit tricky. System could be more clear.

quick and easy

the first year Turbo Tax takes time to enter data but after that there is a lot downloaded from previous years, it also downloads stock transactions and charity deductions if you use "its deductible online". You can choose Q and A or fill in the forms if you are good at taxes...the forms are available to see at all times if you have questions. Highly recommend.
What's great about it: many downloads saves time
What's not so great: seems like software costs more each year
