After last years ploy you are lucky you got me back. It still bothers me that in mid stream I had to upgrade my version from Deluxe to Premier. All this for one little thing that worked for 6-7 years in the past. Always trying to suck little more money out of people for almost nothing in return.
What's great about it: Half way easy
What's not so great: Just about didnt get sent in, I thought i was all done and I checked my return and it said it wasnt sent. It seems you

I use turbo-tax because it is complete and asks all the questions. I had to amend my return three times last year and it made it easy and we got through without extending or having any fines.
What's great about it: ease of use adn complete review
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

again, worse than the previous year
on March 26, 2016

Used to really like TT, but for the last few years, it seems to be less and less useful and getting slower at the same time; worst thing is that I paid more for stock help (premium), but it isn't programed to adjust stock option cost basis; this year, TT overestimated by tax due by $100K! I ended up doing so much of my own calculating and research that I think it would have been faster to complete the free IRS forms without TT. The best thing is itsdeductible. Saved lots of time and maximized my deduction. Interface could be nicer, too. I had to change the screen resolution a lot to see small print then change it back to see the whole page on the screen. I should be able to set the font size separately.
What's great about it: importing: last year's returns, W-2; bank forms
What's not so great: very cumbersome; super slow on mac; I did most of the work
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Twice Locked
on March 26, 2016
Posted by: J2HinNE
TurboTax is the only application I use to prepare my taxes. After approximately 20 years, this was the first time I've ever encountered what I consider to be an application error. TurboTax locked up twice, while entering medical expenses and reviewing the federal return. I expect so much more from the software developers of TurboTax. I'll give it one more try next year. If I experience similar issues, I'll have to search for another tax preparation application.

1099-Misc Confusing
on March 26, 2016
Posted by: Jimbo757
For oil royalties half the information is entered under the 1099 Misc for and half under business investments. which resulted in 1.) 11 errors during the check and 2.) double counting the value of the royalties. I had to go to Help twice to finally figure out I had to delete the $ value of the royalty in the 1099 section. Apparently by the number of questions and answers in the help section ALLOT of people had this problem.
What's great about it: Most of the forms and instructions are good
What's not so great: Not enough information on how to file oil royalties.

Confusing Questions in the Retirement Field
on March 26, 2016
Posted by: JOSENECA
The questions in the retirement field are basically about IRA's and doesn't take into consideration about a regular corporate Pension. You have to answer the questions incorrectly to make the program work correctly.
Also I had a return with a SEP from a self-employed person and it would not give him a Saver's credit, even though he qualified.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
