it could handle the K-1's better, keeps giving several errors and when you fix them it comes back and says it is an error again, to chanfe it back to what it was originally.
What's great about it: easy to use and fill in
What's not so great: it could handle the K-1's better
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Very good program I have been using for years. Need clarification on how to handle dividends that are automatically reinvested
What's great about it: Easy to use. Access to previous records posted automatically
What's not so great: Some of the 179 rules regarding depreciation as related to income was not clear other than generating errors.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Worked Great

I have used Turbo Tax for years. Last year I had a very complex return (newly married) and owed the IRS a bundle. I thought maybe I had done something wrong so I went to my wife's CPA and had them do our taxes - no significant change!
My big complaint is that if you have investments through a financial firm and download your tax statements from them, there is no way to tag all stock purchase/sales as "out of state" on your non-resident out of state tax return (I live in NH and work in MA); it taxes forever to code each transaction as non-MA, in my case.
What's great about it: Walks through all categories very well
What's not so great: Mass NR return was cumbersome for Capital Gains
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

I have loved Turbo Tax for almost 20 years now...
What's great about it: Had to deal with a generation skipping inheritance, sale of our personal residence and an inherited house. No problems.
What's not so great: Had one form that needed a fix before I could file. Came through in late March.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments, I moved

My Go To Tax software
on March 25, 2016

I have used TT for years and rely on the software to make my life easier when filing my taxes! TT provides accurate returns and the interview process is straightforward and thorough. I came across one wrinkle when doing my taxes this year, but I found the answer about how/where to enter my information (our personal HSA contributions) by looking up the topic in the questions & answers section. My husband and I have a HSA account that was left over from when he worked for a previous employer and we make contributions to it for medical expenses that are not associated with his current employer and not on his w-2. The interview section did not instruct me on where to enter the contribution amount, but after searching for help in the Q/A section, I learned to enter it on the "other contributions" line.
What's great about it: accurate, thorough interview, "find" question and answer section helpful
What's not so great: overcharge for efiling state return (deducts a filing fee plus a refund processing fee)
Pros: I bought or sold investments
