So Easy!

First time did joint return and it was as easy as filing single return. Thanks so much...makes my life easier.
What's great about it: Easy, love the steps
What's not so great: none
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I have used TurboTax for a number of years and this year maybe my last year. When answering a question why does the answer get cleared? It has always been that way for the foreign bank question but now it also drops answers for other questions like the health insurance. This type of thing just makes TurboTax a pain to use. The additional fees is also a reason for looking for other software or just doing it manually.
What's great about it: Allows for doing each step without going through every step
What's not so great: Answers to questions are often lost if you go back

Poor due to poor product assurance

Having a bug that prevents saving a .pdf of your return is indicative of a lack of assurance. No one is testing the releases. I have used TT for 10 years and have more and more problems each year with bugs and deficiencies. Last year I had an IRS audit due to insufficient questioning in the TT review. Next year I will be looking for new software.
What's not so great: Inexcusable lack of testing.

One Stop Complete Self Tax Returns

I have used TurboTax since it first came out years ago. It was and is an excellent choice. Each year the quality improves and the content is complete. I file my tax return with 100% confidence it was done correctly and my taxes are exactly what I owe, nothing more. The system is very user friendly and the download capabilities are time saving and awesome. I can't think what I would do without having this valuable tool working for me!
What's great about it: Thorough, easy, user friendly software

easy and worth it

the sotware download is fast and easy to use. While I understand an add'l fee to create a second state return, I don't agree that it should cost you yet another fee on top of it to file that second state electronically.
What's great about it: great for returns within your state
What's not so great: too expensive to add a state

still a good product, but had some issues

I'm sold on Turbo Tax. Have used it for many years with no problems. However, this year the program froze several times during the review processes. In order to continue, I had to close the program and relaunch. No entries were lost, but it was rather annoying.
What's great about it: Total trust in the calculations!
What's not so great: Froze up during several of the review cycles

Mary--service with patience & a smile

I couldn't find the information I needed on the Inuit website for the Turbo Tax community, questions answered by tax professionals, nor anywhere else--state tax websites, in the Turbo Tax program, or gen'l googling. I needed a direct answer, so I used Turbo Tax's "Ask an Expert" service where I left my phone # for a call back and received one in less than 10 minutes. Mary was the tax professional who helped me and she was terrific! She was very thorough, checked all sources of pertinent information that applied to my somewhat tricky situation, and made sure she was giving me the correct answers. She was also great about providing explanations & clarity when I had trouble "connecting the dots" of the jargon that comes with tax codes. Mary had such a wonderful attitude and provided great customer service!
I've used Turbo Tax since they first came out with it and as my taxes have grown more complicated over the years, I've had places where I get bogged down and think "This is where going to a CPA would have been a good idea." But since Turbo Tax started offering the service of speaking to live tax professionals, it has allowed me to get past those difficulties and feel confident that I'm doing my taxes correctly.
I've used Turbo Tax since they first came out with it and as my taxes have grown more complicated over the years, I've had places where I get bogged down and think "This is where going to a CPA would have been a good idea." But since Turbo Tax started offering the service of speaking to live tax professionals, it has allowed me to get past those difficulties and feel confident that I'm doing my taxes correctly.
