Too Far from Tax Forms

I always prepare a spread sheet to better understand the taxes I am paying. I can no longer match the data in the spread sheet with the data in Turbotax because you do not follow the Schedule A format for itemized deductions. Unless you come closer to the Schedule A format, I will have to look elsewhere for my tax help.
What's great about it: Good for tax provision updates.
What's not so great: Can't compare with my spread sheet

I have used Turbo-Tax for many years and have a complicated return and have always been able to get help when I need it.
What's great about it: Can call with the most difficult questions
What's not so great: paying to file a state return

What's not so great: A little confusing on entering investment short & long term gains
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Ought to provide consulting services for customers for a nominal fee - a human tax expert contact !!
What's great about it: Mostly excellent . . . I have been using TurboTax for about 7 or 8 years and wish i had discovered it much earlier
What's not so great: Need line by line clear instructions for complex forms like Form 1116

Form 1099-R

TTAX instructions for filling in TTAX entries clearly states to enter data exactly as shown on Form 1099R. In my experience, Box 1 had the entry for Gross Distribution. Box 2a had no info. The data in Box 1 was, in fact, the total taxable amount. However if I did not fill data in Box 2a, TTAX would not proceed correctly. If I "violated" TTAX admonition and filled in Box 2a TTAX proceeded correctly. Confusing!
