Handling dividends in PA is hard, some 1099s use two entries accounting for special dividend cases. The entries are not as clear as they should be.
It is much easier to go back in step-by-step and review in Federal return than in PA return.
The tally at the top should indicate both the Total Tax and Total Payments because once you set using refund for next year estimate all you see is a 0 refund and you can't see the effect of any changes you try or make. It should also show how much is being used for the next year.
What's great about it: Most is straight forward
What's not so great: Pennslvania return is hard to use

TurboTax's online access to major financial institutions means no more manually entering investment buy/sell/basis info. Translation: hours of spreadsheet work now reduced to a mouse click.Quick and accurate.
What's great about it: Capital Gains a snap
What's not so great: None

More cost and less performance.

Worked great when doing return for an elderly family member with complex investments, etc. , although it required using the Premium version this year. However when doing my simpler return, but with itemized deductions, I encountered numerous hangs and crashes that required restarts and lost data. Several attempts to transfer data from last year resulted in different and incorrect information each time. Reloaded and updated program several time in an attempt to remedy problems with no success. Probably worst experience after using TurboTax for over 15 years.
What's great about it: Accurate, detailed, complete.
What's not so great: Frequent hangs and crashes. Incomplete & inaccurate transfer from last year.

There were a few places where TurboTax said I had an error that was actually caused by the program’s failure to transfer data from a worksheet to the tax form. I had to manually input that data. Otherwise, I still believe that TurboTax is superior to any other tax software.
What's great about it: carry forward of last year’s data
What's not so great: Missouri return is still more difficult
Pros: I bought or sold investments

TurboTax 2015 Review

TurboTax locked up on several occasions and presented a "calculating" banner that would not go away. Had to cancel TurboTax and restart the program.
Some instructions were inconsistent and didn't make sense. I had to re-enter data several times and check placement on forms to determine that taxes were prepared correctly.
Quitting TurboTax after saving data and then restarting return preparation was very confusing as to where it restarted, often requiring re-entering data to assure the information had been accepted in TurboTax and place on the correct forms.
2014 Version worked much better.
What's great about it: Makes tax preparation easier without having too dig into the forms and IRS docs
What's not so great: Some TurboTax instructions were confusing and not consistent

9th Straight Year with TurboTax

I have my own business, own a rental home, and work for government (education). Turbo Tax always covers my needs from all angles. This is my 9th year using it and imagine I will continue for at least 9 more!
What's great about it: Convenient and affordable
What's not so great: Northing really. Who likes filing taxes? No one!

I have been using Turbo Tax for years. Almost changed when they raised the prices last year but it transfers last years information so I bought it again.
