Tax prep life saver

Been using TurboTax since 2005. It gets better every year. Keep up the good work. See you next year.
What's great about it: almost all prep screens were sufficiently clear and detailed. Love the fact TT imports relevant info from previous year
What's not so great: No real cons. One area left me a bit in the weeds: Foreign Taxes. Would help to know initially what is coming next

This year didn't follow the previous experience where all previous year's date was automatically carried forward. This had me looking at last year's returns for loss and charitable deductions carried forward.

On the NC return, there is no prompt or manual way to enter dividends that are partially non-taxable by the State of NC.I receive exempt dividends that are not 100% taxable by the State. A clear method to deduct these on the Sate return should be provided.
What's great about it: Great and easy to use.
What's not so great: State return has minor issue

Iowa State Return requires overrides on Income and Deduction splits between spouses to get desired result, Instructions do not cover how splits can/need to be made.
What's great about it: Federal Return is easy to create
What's not so great: Iowa State Return required some overrides.

Painless Tax Filing

TurboTax is fantastic. It guides you through both Federal and State Returns with step by step assistance. My returns were correctly prepared and promptly e-filed. I particularly like how the software checks everything for accuracy and advised me of something I had inadvertently overlooked on my State return (forgot to fill-in the county of residence box on a Schedule). Doing taxes this way is so simple. Even a horse trainer can get it right the first time!
What's great about it: Easy to use, Step by Step assistance, Easy E-filing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

The tax filing guide is good. Don't change it each year. The software should pickup from where I left of in the last session. I am happy to see that we can see our individual Forms as needed. Add more banks and investment organizations to participate in automatic importing of the investment information. You are not getting local large banks in your system.
What's great about it: It guided me well in finshing the taxes
What's not so great: Font size in the help section is too small. Allow fonts to increase as in tax filing.

Great Experience!

It seems that Turbo Tax gets easier and more integrated each year. The pieces seem to go together better and the overall experience is easier and quicker. I use both the step-by-step method on some parts and the "pick what to work on" method on others. It was just great.
What's great about it: Just seems to get better and easier year by year. Everything went smoothly and easily. Liked all the tips.
What's not so great: Nothing worth reporting
