Not good this year!

Difficult to save information and move on, not same as last year's version. Also kept requiring repeated fill-in of information already supplied. Could not handle a 1099-MISC income form. Kept trying to require a Schedule C which we are not. Small income from a consignment shop difficult to report.
What's great about it: Transfered last year's information
What's not so great: Difficult to save info and move on!

The best there is!

I have used Tax Cut and Turbo Tax is by far the favorable product. I have used Turbo Tax for years and will never use another program.
What's great about it: Easy to use; easy to get answers
What's not so great: occasionally will not do what I want

I wish there were a short way to make a copy before filing the return. Once I review a copy and know it is correct, then I want to copy the whole return, save the return, then e file.
On the identification process, if it is not necessary from a personal preference, there should be a check mark box accepting or refusing the identification.

Great experience
What's great about it: walked me thru everything, allowed me to go back and fix mistakes easily
What's not so great: wanted to use online, but wouldn't transfer last year's return from desktop

Federal IP number

Several years ago my wifes SSN was used fraudulently. The IRS has sent us a SIX digit id number to be used since then. There was nothing in the instructions about this scenario. We got the standard 5 digit IP numbers and submitted. Return was rejected. I reread the IRS bulletin and it told where to put the number for hard copy filing and to ask software provider where to put for email filing. I took a chance and overrode the box the IRS instructions said to put it in for hard copy. Have just efiled again. We'll see what happens. You need to address that; it will happen every year from now on for us.
