Some one should fix your software interface for the sale of rental property not located in the state in which the tax payer resides. I manually adjusted our AZ return to reflect the loss on the sale of our rental property located in AZ.
What's great about it: Fairly Easy to Use
What's not so great: Did not properly populate our out of state return for a property sale

Turbo Tax Stinks

I have used Turbo Tax for around 20 years, however, this will be the last time I purchase it. I have never seen such a confusing and poorly assisted questions. There is no one to reach for help. I have downloaded my brokerage information and at the end it asks me details of stocks that were given by the brokerage. When I couldn't answer the questions, It required me to file by mail. Then when I printed out the returns (IRS and New York), it said that I had to file the NY return by e-file. Well that option was not available now. Last year when my identity was stolen and someone filed in my name, you did nothing to help me. Your software has become like so many others. It has bugs that are incomprehensible. For instance, The Apple Mac has no scroll bar and when one of your web pages goes beyond the bottom, It becomes impossible to get to the bottom. It took me an hour to figure which buttons to push to get to the bottom.
What's great about it: Cannot think of one positive thing
What's not so great: counter-intuitive, confusing and impossible to finally file taxes

Complex taxes made easy

Automatic import of investment documents, calculation of college expenses, automatic calculation of rental income/loss really made these things easy. And my state had a bunch of new income exclusions that it figured out for me automatically.
It took me only about 6 hours to do my taxes using Turbo Tax. It would have taken many days (and many unpleasant thoughts) if I'd had to fill out all those calculation forms and read all the documents. This is really good software.
What's great about it: Import investments, college, rental property, easy state form
What's not so great: Didn't lick the stamp for me.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Flip it

Instead of scrolling all the way through the income or deduction panel just to get to the "next section", why not flip it and have the next section on the top of the panel. Then have a review before you go on to the next panel.
What's great about it: Quick and painless, it gets easier every year
What's not so great: A lot of scrolling

Makes A Complicated Process Less Complicated

The one time we used a CPA he asked harder questions than TT does and cost a whole lot more.
What's great about it: propagates changes painlessly
What's not so great: I wonder if I could have used a cheaper version of TurboTax

It took much too long to file a simple return. Should take less than an hour, took over 5 hours, had to restart two times. TurboTax user since 2001

Couldn't do without it!!!

Turbotax is a total time saver. If I had to look up all the necessary forms and how to fill them out I would have to start working on my next years return months in advance. Their product is great!!
If I had one negative, it is that sometimes the information they are looking for is not explained in enough detail so I know what to enter without a lot of research.

What's great about it: Makes filing difficult returns really easy!!
What's not so great: Sometimes difficult to get through to customer service. Some explanation for data to be filled in is not explained.
