Got it Done!

Have used Turbo Tax for several years....keep coming back to use it....but each year an entry curve ball seems to be added. See comment re foreign taxes withheld above. Also, the section involving taking any amortization of bond discount or bond premium doesn't seem to function correctly....had to work around it.
What's great about it: Help section....very helpful
What's not so great: Steps to add foreign taxes withheld not intutitive; glad help section was there for help from other users.

Used Turbo Tax since first version

I have used Turbo Tax for over 20 years since it first came out. I like that it uploads my information from year to year and keep a summary comparison. The CD version on loaded on my computer. I do not like the layout of the current version for the last few years where you cannot easily jump around from forms back the questions where you left off. Now when you close TT and come back to it a few days later it does not even take you to where you left off! Very frustrating! I would like to always see the entry for the last years return to the current field I am working on, not just a few of them. Thank you for considering bring back some of these old features.
What's great about it: Integration of federal forms to state forms
What's not so great: The layout in the last few years is not as good as it used to be

Experience gone bad

After telling me that my return is all set to go, I try to file and get a screen telling me that TurboTax needs more information. The return cannot be filed because of an error in capital gains. I do not understand what the error is or how to correct it.
What's great about it: None at this time
What's not so great: Trouble filing

Works as expected. Efficient collection of data. Once data is entered, it is difficult to correct errors. There does not appear easy way to directly access the form that has the incorrect info. Instead, the program wants to walk you through the section of the interview where incorrect data has been entered. It is doable, but less obvious how to make the correction than it should be.
What's great about it: fast, detailed, easy
What's not so great: clumsy to switch between interview and forms

I had to upgrade to Premier to deal with some investment things. Once I did that, the software would constantly hang. I'd have to quit and re-start at practically every section. It was annoying, but I don't think I lost any data.
I'm glad the Premiere software helped me get a bigger refund.
