Beats pencil and paper, but can still be improved

I've been a Turbo Tax user for a number of years, and am especially appreciative of how Turbo Tax retains necessary data from year to year and pre-populates forms with imported data. I like being able to switch from interview mode to forms mode at will. My complaints are that some less common situations aren't handled as well and never seem to be addressed. These include in particular the areas of educational expenses and estimated taxes. This year even the suggestion feature was down whenever I wanted to comment. So I'll likely keep using TT, but I would really like to see some capability improvements.
What's great about it: imports of prior years data and investment info
What's not so great: doesn't always handle less common situations or states as well

Federal Better than State

State return program was much less helpful and expected me to know a lot of the jargon and rules for my state. Example: any adjustments to enter?
What's great about it: Step by step with detailed help
What's not so great: State program much less helpful, too expensive relative to alternative

Return Process

I've used Turbo Tax for many years now and this is the first year I had these issues. The software would get hung up on calculations and I would be forced to restart the application.
A bit frustrating, but overall, I would still recommend Turbo Tax and will continue to use the product.
What's great about it: Easy to follow
What's not so great: Constant crash, required restart several times

Simple and straight forward

Overall this year's version is easier to use than in past versions and seemed to more logically present the questions. While I have significant experience in filing taxes there is no reason to do anything other than step through the process as offered.
What's great about it: Program led you through all steps easily. I've been a customer for years and this was the best version by far.
What's not so great: Automatically printed out amount for next year's estimated taxes without asking for input

Awesome Product

I was pretty nervous about how I would be handling the sale of some investments, but Turbo allowed me to import all my information. I was done in a snap. Love Turbo Tax!! They take the fear out of doing taxes!!

It took a bit longer to get the platform started, as well as a few extra steps to get it completed. But in the interest of thoroughness and security, it was well worth it.

Downloadable information

Awesome upgrades and looking forward to being able to have all reported information listed to download into our tax return without having to go out and find it!
What's great about it: Very user friendly and much improved from 10 yrs ago.
What's not so great: There was not anything I didn't like!
