Premier is the only way to go!

This is the first year I purchased Premier. It was worth every penny! Deluxe is a very good version, but Premier is excellent when you have investments and rentals!
I loved the "Pick what I want to work on" versus the "Step-by-step" when reviewing your entries.
What's great about it: Importing info is very helpful. Very thorough!
What's not so great: NONE!
Pros: I bought or sold investments

No real help available

Apart from the lack of structure to report foreign investments, there is no real guidance for reporting foreign pensions. Additionally, my eFile continues to be rejected fo no clear reason and of course, there is no help funtion to address whatever issue is occuring
What's great about it: Easy to follow
What's not so great: Not friendly for foreign inventments

Going Downhill

I have used TT for about 15 years and have always been happy. This year it crashed many times (I do three returns, myself and two children and it crashed multiple times on every one). We had numerous error reports that were difficult to understand (made me fill in a value for line X on "schedule C" for example but I had to go to the IRS web site to see what that line was. I believe next year I will try something else.
What's great about it: Still better than doing taxes by hand
What's not so great: Crashed a lot, confusing error reports

Showing previous year's amounts is a great help in preparing the current year's return. It's a time saver in preparations.

Over 10 years with Turbo Tax

I've used Turbo Tax for over 10 years and it seems to improve every year. Turbo Tax is my tax consultant, it asked me the questions and I filled in the numbers and other answers.
I especially like the charitable donation section where a comparable sales amount is used to determine the value of a donated items. It takes the guesswork out of the equation.
If Turbo Tax could adjust their transition between topics within a category, it would be a time saver. Going from a finished topic late in the category requires a lot of scrolling.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax does all the work, I just fill in the numbers
What's not so great: Excessive scrolling required to move between topics

What's great about it: been using for over a decade...easier to work with now
What's not so great: updates crashed PC...had to resort to on-line manual updates a hassle
