Almost Perfect

It hung up on calculations a few times. But by closing and reopening it, it worked out.
What's great about it: Ease of entry, all bases covered
What's not so great: Hung up several times during entering data

Easy peasy tax return with TurboTax

I've been using Turbo tax for the last 5+ years. What I like the most is that information from previous years can be transferred directly into current year's return and saves a lot of typing. I also like the ItsDeductible utility which makes it a breeze to track charitable donations. My tax return is generally pretty straight forward so I think Turbotax does a wonderful job. Would be curious to see how robust it is with more complicated tax situations.
What's great about it: Information transferred directly from previous tax years; automatic document download
What's not so great: some download didn't work

worse than last year

Some deductions are not showing up on the state returns at all.
I needed to check with the last year papers line by line to see where was the mistake and omission.
I see other people complains in forum. Sorry turbotax but looks like you have a deal with the government on our expense.
Check people before you hit sent button and double check with last year tax return.

What's great about it: it is easy to use
What's not so great: every year need to check more for the missed things and I like previous versions better

I OWE!

I had to break my input session (a few hours, but not overwhelming) into two separate days. My taxes are a little involved, so breaking up the time spent inputting the data was beneficial to me. What I really liked is that I could easily pick up where I left off from the previous session. And fixing input mistakes (which happened when I was tired/fatigued) was easy.
What's great about it: I liked the idea of knowing how much I owed every step of the way.
What's not so great: The fact that I "owe" taxes. But it's managable.

Given the increasing cost of Turbo Tax, I'll look at hiring a tax professional.
What's great about it: Convience of doing it at home, almost easy to use
What's not so great: Price is high, Accounts/Categories don't match with Quicken, need to know taxes so as not to miss anything

I struggled when it came to the capital gains selling stocks section. Felt there was not enough info provided by your program for the simple person to have complete understanding of what goes where and how do you find it.
What's great about it: For the most part continues to be simple and easy to use. Have used it for a number of years now.
What's not so great: Capital Gains section needs to be more simpler and user freindly
Pros: I bought or sold investments
