Plan to use next year.
What's great about it: Ease of use
What's not so great: didn't detect a duplication until ready to print-out forms.

It's great!

The most annoying part for me is still to scroll way down to the bottom of the page when I come back from answering questions about either my deduction, or my income.
What's great about it: Easy to use. Very helpful. Very thorough.
What's not so great: Too thourough at times. There should be ways to skip some questions entirely.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Very disappointed in TurboTax Premier
on March 19, 2016

I have been a user of TurboTax (mostly Delux, last 3 years Premier) for over about 20 years. This is the 1st time I felt that TurboTax product (premier) must not have been well tested. There were many gaps and many times TurboTax This is OK as one can go back and simply group such tax and income as coming from Various countries but TurboTax will not add up all the Foreign Taxes paid correctly unless you manually accounted by showing some income against each foreign tax entry in each 1099. If I was not careful, I would have lost out on a good bit of my foreign tax credit. There were several other instances but I wanted to get over doing taxes rather than do testing for TurboTax. I have to say that this is the 1st time that my confidence is shaken in TurboTax and in future I may have to check other software products out to ensure I am filing proper taxes and getting right credits/refunds. Would love to hear back from you, I am sure that you should have lot of others complaining as well.
What's great about it: Mostly easy to navigate
What's not so great: Not as well tested as in the previous years - lots of gaps

Very Nice, Except for One Wrinkle

Overall, we are very satisfied with TurboTax after using it for over a decade of sometimes complicated returns. The ease of navigation, the ability to bounce around as statements and 1099s trickled in was a great time saver.
Our one complaint is one that TurboTax seems to have not yet resolved despite some reminders in the last few years: individuals covered by work retirement plans who then go solo during the same tax year. TurboTax cannot combine the two contributions and still help maximize retirement savings. As more and more people try to make it on their own, they need to know that TurboTax is the right software for their next challenge. Helping maximize retirement savings (and thus reduce some taxes) should be a core component of the product.
What's great about it: Easy navigation and helpful tips
What's not so great: Split retirement remains an issue
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments, I moved

AMT
on March 20, 2016
Posted by: john17055
Even though Turbo Tax said I didn't need AMT calculation, IRS sent a letter. Your instructions said to ignore the letter. I went to IRS.gov, filled out the form and will send it in. Just because Turbo Tax said to ignore the letter, I hate to try to deal with the IRS.
What's great about it: Original tax results said I don't need AMT, Got a letter from the IRS
What's not so great: I like the software, been using for 20+ years
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Easy Done
on March 20, 2016

Very easy to use. For the most part everything is explained in very good detail. The review section needs some work as the items cited did not matchup with the sections designed to help you fill in the forms. There were no corresponding line numbers provided and you couldn't see the actual form during the review process. Other than that, excellent program, I will use it again next year!
What's great about it: Fast, tries to find you deductions
What's not so great: Review cited form line items that were not readily apparent in the sections developed for those forms
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
