Turbo Tax is good for people who do not have super complicated tax returns to prepare.
What's great about it: Walked me through everything
What's not so great: Sometimes when I clicked on the help icon, I was sent to someplace that did not help at all

Entering ESPP Stock Sales stressful

When I entered in the correct cost per share (with my 15% discount), it seemed to increase the Adjsuted Cost Basis incorrectly.
I found a different way to enter it where it wouldn't do this, but since I sold 14 different lots, two of the lots would not let me enter in the Ordinary Income Reported. It seems like a bug in the program. All the other lots were OK. I kept getting a warning that I must enter something in the field, but couldn't.
Also when my taxes were "checked", I had one lot that was a "Long-term transaction for which the basis is not reported to the IRS". TurboTAx brought up the form and told me to fix it, but I wasn't sure what to do. I just deleted the Cost Basis and TurboTax was happy. I hope the IRS is too.
What's great about it: Asks most of the right questions
What's not so great: Adjusts the Cost Basis when it shouldn't

I've used Turbo Tax for years. It didn't disappoint this year. Same excellent support.

Difficult to determine 2016 projections particularly with Capital Gains and how to figure what those projections will be. Don't know how to figure qualified dividends.
What's great about it: Mostly good
What's not so great: Getting complicated--estimated tax

Overall, I've always raved about how easy Turbo Tax is, and it is. I still recommend Turbo Tax to everyone However this year I ran into a lot of issues. I had to reboot Turbo Tax about 6+ times. The application kept stalling on a quite a few sections. That was REALLY frustrating as I have not experienced this in previous years. The application would just keep spinning and not go to the next screen. I'm trying to fly through my taxes and with having to keep shutting it down and reopening it, it was not a pleasant experience this year at all. At one point, I had to shut down my computer because I thought it was the computer, but it was Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: Quick and straight forward
What's not so great: Stalled and slow

2015 TurboTax Premier Virtually Useless

I have used TurboTax since the late 1980s. This year was most frustrating because it crashed innumerable times as I tried to complete my return. I had over 1,000 broker transactions included in my return, and TurboTax couldn't handle the load. I had to virtually do my whole return 3 or 4 times since the program kept crashing, and when it restarted it went back to a much earlier version -- I had to reenter the same information multiple times.
I would not recommend TurboTax anymore for anyone who had significant investment activity!
What's not so great: Program repeatedly crashed throughout the return process!

Good but needs improvement

In addition to the "cons" noted above, the "Print" options are VERY confusing toward the end. The way the program is currently written, it appears as though one must file their return(s) before they can print them out. Also, the program froze several times and flipped back to random pages.
What's great about it: Handles all the complex computations
What's not so great: Not all questions (on the "walk through" version) are as clear as they could have been & some questions are duplicative

I love Turbotax

I really like that last year's entries were shown, so I could quickly compare this year's entries. It helps reduce mistakes and missed entries.
What's great about it: It's an easy way to file your income tax.
What's not so great: I sometimes had to start over to edit a particular section.
