Thirty-Year Customer

TurboTax continues to work for me - year after year. I started with the first version - Mac-In-Tax about 1985 or so. I have purchased, used, and FILED my Federal and State tax return every year since with TurboTax. Over the years, my return has become more complex, with changes in jobs, marital status, W-2 jobs vs. private consulting (self almost-employed) and now, retirement. TurboTax has kept up with every change, and kept me legal with all the new tax laws. I use Quicken to keep all my details, and then print out my report - and then, GET MY TAXES DONE! THANKS Intuit!
What's great about it: Works with complicated (VERY) returns!
What's not so great: Could sure use more help with K-1s
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Since we were hacked in 2013, the IRS sent filing numbers and there is a potential for confusion as where to put these numbers in the return.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: A little confusion regarding PIN umbers and efiling numbers.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Fine for feds, not so hot for AZ state taxes

As has been noted in many comments, when you take standard deductions on the federal forms but want to itemize on the AZ state forms, Turbo Tax does not create the forms necessary to file the state taxes. Specifically, the 1040 schedule A that would have been used if you HAD itemized. This form is necessary for the state. Yes, you can work around it, but it is a nuisance and really shouldn't be that hard to fix. But they don't, so you see the same comments year after year...
For our simple federal tax situation, this software was easy to use and worked just fine.
What's great about it: The fed was straightforward for our simple tax situation
What's not so great: Turbo Tax does not create all the right forms to file AZ state

Exhausted me.

Last year the program decided that I should take the standard deduction before I had begun to enter my itemized ones, and I wound up paying a lot of tax. This year, I decided to just go ahead and itemize, and the program never said otherwise; I got back all my estimated tax, but it was a long day and I hope the program can be tweaked to let us long-suffering masses know better whether itemization beyond a certain point is worth while. It seemed to know my last year's itemization even though I didn't enter it--surely there must be a middle ground between "Just say no" and "Enter every blasted deduction whether it's of any use or not"
What's great about it: Was very thorough.
What's not so great: Took all my deductions w/out letting me know my refund wasn't going to increase.

Good program with very poor e-mail prceedure

Everything went smoothly and swiftly for me until I tried to e-mail my returns. Right after I was asked my method of pay I was moved to a window that advised me that a code was being e-mailed to me that I was to put into a supplied box, and press continue. The trouble is, I couldn't get to my e-mail to obtain the code without exiting the window I was in that held the box where the code was to be inserted. I tried for quite a while to get around this problem, but was not successful. I finally e-mailed my federal return and mailed the state. This problem caused me much frustration, loss of time and a very bad taste in my mouth for the program. I've used this program for several years and don't remember having this problem before.
What's great about it: answering program questions went very smoothly
What's not so great: poor e-mailing proceedure

2015 Tax Season Review
on March 18, 2016

This year the return went very smooth except with a hang-up with Schedule K-1. Had to re-load and go back to Schedule K-1 to continue. It was my final year for the Limit Partnership stock, thank god. I had to go into the actual 1065 document itself to complete the schedule K-1 entries for final year, the program should of asked me if it was the final year. I do not intend to ever having any future limit partnership stock again, even with Turbotax it a real pain and I don't alway know if the entries I'm making a good and sound. Its hard to understand. Limited partnership stocks should be outlaw. A big waste of time and money to manage.
What's great about it: Fast and the Easiest Tax Year
What's not so great: TurboTax Premier needs to improve Schedule K-1 processing you don't know if your doing it correctly.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
