Continues to be a great product

TurboTax continues to simplify an overly complex process and lets me be sure I am doing things correctly. Entering information is easy and quick. The deduction calculator helped me estimate the value of a bunch of clothing and household items my wife donated to charity.
What's great about it: Fast, guides you through a complex process, explains stuff
What's not so great: No notable problems
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Investment Entries
on March 18, 2016

This package is poorly suited to users with complicated investment holdings across different institutions and different types of accounts (regular, IRA, etc.). I have multiple types of accounts at multiple institutions, and some with the same investment in multiple accounts.
1) Once I have started entering data for one account, it's to easy to lose track of which account I'm in.
Solution: Capture the institution and account number on the first screen for each account. Also capture the type of account (RA, regular, etc.). Then, continue to display those data items on subsequent screens for entries of that account.
2) There is no capability to print off the contents of entries for one or more investment accounts so that a user can later compare with their own hardcopy of the data.
Solution: Put an active print icon on each screen so that the user can print off each screen's contents as they require. it. Also, before the final "Done" for each account, put in the capability to print all the entries for that account (also for Income, Deductions, and all the other paths in the maze of entries.)
3) There is no easy way to go back and see what has been entered on other legs of the tree of entries (not just investment accounts).
Solution: Create a facility which will allow users to go back up the tree and onto another branch, and then return to where they were working without having to back out of where they were before jumping around. If necessary, prohibit them from updating the branch to which they jump until they finish their initial updates or back out of the branch they were updating.
4) The HELP screens are inadequate at best. Either improve them or add another level of Help to address complex issues.
What's great about it: OK for simple investors with one or two accounts.
What's not so great: Poor HELP; Difficult navigation between entries for different accounts; No capability to print data for type of entry.

OPM Survivor Annuity
on March 18, 2016

I'm not sure I would purchase Turbo Tax again. As I mentioned there were no clear questions asked regarding reporting of an OPM Survivor Annuity. It kept referring to an RMD which in my mind usually applies to a 401K or an IRA. Could not see whether the Simplified Method was applied. In years past I was pleased but this year it has taken me all day with constant reviewing of your process -- again the OPM Survivor Annuity I hope I answered the questions correctly Quite stressful as I aim to be correct.
What's not so great: No clear questions asked re the handling of the CSF 1099R -- reference made to the simplified method but no work sheets

Had to go to Forum to find out how File a Form 1116 Foreign Tax Credit involving 4 Stocks held at one broker.
Created one account and three Dummy accounts to get Turbo Tax to process correctly.
You Need to work on this.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
