Easy to use TurboTax

Long time Quicken and TurboTax user. Would highly recommend to probably everyone I know that didn't have some situation that maybe required higher level of expertise.
What's great about it: Walks through all the areas in an organized manner and asks the right questions
What's not so great: Maybe doesn't do such a great job of providing details and explanation after downloading investment information

If you are retired and have a lot of investment income via dividends, interest and capital gains TurboTax Premier is the best. It walks you through the burdensome IRS forms with a simple question and answer format that brings a sense of normalcy to an otherwise arduous task.
What's great about it: All info that used to be manually entered ie ( investment data) can now be imported.
What's not so great: Paying taxes is a con, but turbotax makes it simple to do.

I have used Turbo Tax for several years and will continue to do so in the future, but I can not always predict changes in income for the upcoming year.
If I have an extra source of income one year, but unlikely to have that same extra income the next year, I have had some difficulty in changing amounts on the estimated tax vouchers that Turbo Tax generates based upon the current tax filing.
I often prefer to pay upfront so I don't have to think about missing tax due dates throughout the year. Given that interest rates are still very low, I prefer the peace of mind of having it all done with. Some additional flexibility in entering voucher payment amounts would make a good product even better.

I have used this type of tax return for several years and I think it is easier to use each year. I will continue to use Turbo-tax because of the simple steps to follow. I have promoted the use of Turbo-tax to others and showed them how easy it is.
What's great about it: easy, step-by-step, questions and follow feature
What's not so great: Too many sections that do not apply, but I understsnd some may need.

Great product

I have used the product for many years and each year it gets a little better and easier. The Q&A has improved greatly. I would like to see a way to see the new tax issues for the current year with a brief explanation. The questions through the guide me process are clear and complete.
I see the process of updating the software and going back into the program was fixed this year. In prior years the software would update and then kick me out. I would need to log back in, that was a nice fix.
Moving the fed info to the state returns is great and requires little to no additional work on the state returns.

Almost fun

I have done my own taxes since 1958. Being dyslexic, I always struggled with transposing numbers. I’m an artist, my dad was a bookkeeper, every time I use TurboTax I think of how much he would have loved it.
I wrote my own tax software the year Macintax (now Turbotax) was introduced and never even used it.
TurboTax is almost fun. Not fun like going on a vacation, More like going to the dentist and finding that you only need a cleaning.

What's great about it: Eliminates the parts I hate most about filling out forms
What's not so great: The Investment download window is not wide enough to include Fidelity account numbers.
