More pre-emptive help text would have expedited my situation where I pay property taxes on 1) Our house/lot, 2) Adjoining Lot 3) Lot in Florida. In the end (during the state portion) I perceived that Turbotax was sensitive to the different taxing scenarios and made it clear at that time. Also, I dabble in stocks a little, and I think I'm now dependent on having software to handle those details. Well done.

Reduce the Tax Tango Stress with Turbo Tax

I've been using TT for a few years now and feel very confident in my filings. TT is not a tax advisor though so one must be mindful of that.
The rate of entry, the ability to hop around is great. Also downloading from external sources is indispensable and painless.
What's great about it: The instructions are short, clear and reassuring.
What's not so great: Referring to the Affordable Care Act as Obamacare.

What's not so great: Rents and Royalties hard to get to ..never saw a"jump" to get to completing this part.

Would like it to be easier to jump directly to a specific area once most of the input is done.
What's great about it: Good overall tool
What's not so great: sometimes confusing whether one is looking at a document that will actually be submitted or a worksheet

Missing Form 8949

Have used TurboTax Deluxe for years. This year I knew I had to complete a Form 8949 but could not find one anywhere. Form 8949 does not show in the forms list. Only on the final print review does it appear. It was extremely time consuming and frustrating looking for it. Please fix that for next year.

Makes complicated returns bearable

It is the record keeping that is the biggest problem with taxes. Turbo Tax makes the entry of information relatively easy, takes the task of learning complex rules out of the process, and provides for continuity over the years if used year after year. Since the annual update cost must be pretty low compared to initially developing the product, fees seem too high: excess profit to Intuit?
What's great about it: Carry forward of prior year information and downloading of information from third parties is very nice.
What's not so great: Wasn't always clear why an entry differed from what I expected. E.g., total medical expenses.

TurboTax Covers All Taxes Areas

Found the program steps straightforward and easy to navigate through the all different reporting sections. Information was easy to input via EasySteps and you could verify by accessing individual Forms. The quick links (to explanation information) were helpful. In the Healthcare Coverage questions, had to access the 1095-B Form to indicate that we had healthcare coverage for 12 months vice having 12 months Short Gap coverage. Had to access the Healthcare Entry sheet to correct. Like the method used to allow for multiple states to be included/accessed to the main tax forms. Also liked the transfer of data from last year's program to the current year program; did not detect any errors in the data transfer process.
What's great about it: Easy walk-thru steps, ability to hyper jump between EasySteps/Forms, effective Error Checking capability
What's not so great: The Healthcare section did populate the 1095-B worksheet correctly if you had healthcare coverage for the entire year.
