Bronco Review

I find the portion for the medical premium a little confusing. The regular health insurance premium and the Long-Term Care premium are bundled together on my 1099R form. It is hard to follow the numbers being entered on the Schedule A.
What's great about it: Easy to use and easy to file.
What's not so great: Confusing step.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

transfer in
on March 16, 2016

Once I transfer in from last year, I cannot go back and redo the transfer. This was an issue when, after entering all of my Federal data, I discovered that I imported from a version that did not have the state installed. I got a new computer. I moved last year's file to the new computer. I installed TT federal on the new computer but did not install TT State untill after I did the transfer in. I waited until I was ready to do the State. But it did the transfer in before I entered any of the Federal data. I had to either start over, or enter information manually and hope that I did it right.
What's not so great: Transfer in from last year - see my review.

I did my taxes by hand for many years, but we had few investments. Having those now, it is much easier with your software and the cooperation of our investment company.
What's great about it: Easy to use; I am a retired accountant who enjoys doing my taxes, so I recommend your product to many of my friends.
What's not so great: Would like easier way to print copies of submission form data for my records.

Investment Entries

I have multiple regular and IRA accounts with one financial institution. Many of the holdings are identical across these accounts. The problems that I encountered were: (1)There is no easy way to view the entries for one account without completing it's entry and then editing the account that I wanted to see. (I know, learn how to do a screen print! But that's what I'm paying your designers to do when I buy your software.) (2) Along the same line it would help if each screen displayed my input of the institution name, the account number, and the type of account (regular or IRA or ...). I suggest that you look at how Vanguard structures it accounts (they do it differently from most financial institutions), and make it easier for a user to make entries when they have multiple accounts with Vanguard. (3) The help screens are minimally helpful. (4) if there are user groups out there, list one or two, or at least a good search term that will help users get better answers to their questions.
I used to design online systems, so I know something about how difficult is to keep up with tax code changes. Consider polling reviewing users each may with what they would like (in addition to code compliance. In any case, good luck.
What's great about it: Covers most simple tax situations.
What's not so great: Could not easily page back to other investment entries
Pros: I bought or sold investments
