Review of tax year 2015 TurboTax

I was asked how much of my auto insurance goes for medical coverage (e.g., personal injury protection). I didn’t have it at the time so i skipped it, but I was never able to find that section again using all the searching tools available to me. I think I lost out on some not-insignificant tax return money from Michigan as a result. TurboTax should fix this.
TurboTax should enable an easy on-line review page by page, rather than having to print out the entire document. Once the state tax return had been completed, it was almost impossible to go back through it, and the Forms and Schedules sections didn’t permit it.
What's great about it: Easy import of previous year data, easy data downloads
What's not so great: Very difficult to go back to state specialty items

I have always done my own taxes. As my taxes
have become increasingly more complex, I have been using Turbo Tax for at least the last ten years. I would be lost without it!

Until the Government gets serious about simplifying the tax codes, which may be never, I will continue to rely on Turbo Tax!
Turbo Tax is a excellent product that keeps getting better over the years. Please keep up the good work.

problem with decucts

auto shifted a 1099-misc to a schedule C, but would not allow me to list any deduction. Told me I would have to get another version of turbo tax at an additional cost. An accountant told me it should have been handle as misc. income and allowed expense deductions. the 1099C was only for a $1000, but my expenses were $700 in starting with Stream Gas & Power.
What's great about it: overall program is good
What's not so great: auto shifted 1099-misc to a schedule C

Overall provides a great way to do your taxes and offers many options to maximize your refund.
What's great about it: Accurate calculations, Walks you through of all deduction categories
What's not so great: Covers fewer financial institutions for automatic data transfers

TT program has been improved, great phone support

Last year, after many years of being an unhappy TT user I tried all the alternative programs and found they did not work for me as well as TT. Being able to download 1099s from my brokers is very important. Another important feature of TT is being able to jump from interview to form mode and back. But ,it seemed that TT never tried to automate functions that could easily be automated.
For the 2015 version TT made big improvements as noted under Pros. I really appreciated them.
When a hiccup kept me from efiling and I had tried all the online options, I called and got help from a person who didn't give up until she found a solution that worked. It was a difficult problem that took maybe a half hour, but the agent was persistent.
What's great about it: New download for Lending Club, partial automation of Form 1116, improved phone support
What's not so great: Dropped click on number to find where TT got it from.

Proof you can do simple and complex returns

What's not so great: stock sales section (ESPP, and Stock Options) could be better
