Wowser refund!

Turbo-Tax found deductions I wasn't aware of and thus I will get a bigger refund than I expected. What's not to like?
What's great about it: they do all the math!

Better than last year

This software works. It is exasperating for a tax experienced, knowledgeable person to quickly jump around and check, change data as well as to insert missing data session after session.
Professional tax software it is not.

Turbotax on Mac after 20 years on a PC

I used override
to do estimating for the next year estimate. Didn't seem to be there in the Mac version. Likewise for backup sheets. Items I accessed thru right clicks on the PC didn't seem to be there in the Mac version.

Overall it worked great. Once I got used to it-going between forms and easy step seemed easier on the Mac.
What's great about it: previous year tax return from PC transitioned in easily to the Mac
What's not so great: Ability to do backups sheets, comments, overrides
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Very happy returns

I've been using turbo tax since 2008 and I have to say I was nervous at first. Now, in 2016, I actually look forward to spending a quiet afternoon doing my taxes. It's wonderful to be home doing the step by step process they lay out for me. The best part is that it remembers me and my last years tax returns and info, making it go much quicker.
I will keep using turbo tax with much gratitude to the folks who created it.

Good but annoying no direct entry forms/worksheets

Sometimes it would be nice to be able to go to the right form or worksheet and directly enter the information. Annoying that certain fields are blocked and can only be entered by going through three other worksheets or forms. For example, did not receive a 1099-R for converting an IRA to ROTH, but had to trick TurboTax by putting the data into a dummy 1099-R when it would have been far easier to directly enter the information on the IRA worksheet or Form 8606, etc.
I have been using TurboTax since 1999, and a little annoyed that i have to go back to old tax forms to find the carryovers for certain items. TT should remember them all if I have been using this software for this long.
What's great about it: Walks through almost everything
What's not so great: No direct on certain forms/worksheets, does not remember all carryovers

Turbo Tax comes through again

This is the first year we had a child (er... young adult) in college. Turbo Tax helped us through the process of a 529 withdrawal and 1099Q and 1089T statements. We have been using Turbo Tax for over 15 years and each new financial transaction we have had, it has handled.
What's great about it: TT walked me through the college expense and 529 withdrawal process for my first time
What's not so great: I would have liked a referral to irs.gov pub 17.
