Taxes done easy

I highly recommend using Turbo Tax. Previously, I had done all my own taxes, including a personal business- very detailed, timely, and difficult. Three years ago I started using Turbo Tax as recommended by my brother-in -law. It made my life SO much easier- business taxes were all computed for me!!
Love it.

What's great about it: electronic; asks all pertinent questions- just fill in the blank
What's not so great: I had difficulty with the 1099R because my broker's name was not on the list and it took a bit of navigation to finish

2015 renewal

2014 we had the complication of reporting a gain on the sale of our home that was much easier than I thought it would be thanks to TurboTax. In 2015 the direct download of data from our stock broker took the guesswork out of completing the 1099 form.
Only issue I had was the difficulty in accessing and downloading the automatic renewal in November. For some reason, I had problems getting the file to open although the charge to my credit card came through unscathed.

What's great about it: Easy to use, fairly intuitive for a cyber dinsour, got the job done without much hassle.
What's not so great: Automatic renewal process had some problems accessing my account.

Several times through this process I have lost everything I had put in and went back to a fresh start as if I had just opened the package and installed. This happened four or five time at different times during the preparation. The last time I duplicated the file under a new name and saved it on a thumb drive. It was too much work to lose. I didn't need to use it.
Once I trashed empty file and rebooted. That worked and I got the under prep file back.
This happened in 2014 also. Is it something to do with saving or closing the file.

I liked this version of Turbo Tax Premier, pretty straight forward however I was disappointed that this version did not included comparing previous years returns to current return.
What's great about it: Importing 1099-B info
What's not so great: Why 1099 Interest and Dividends not automatically imported

Mostly Excellent

Turbo Tax is generally a wonderful product. I do taxes for my wife and I, for my elderly mother and for my just out of college son. It works great and handles virtually all situations.
One it doesn't seem to like is my wife works elections for our local city. They provide her a W2 but show NO income on the W2 - only federal tax charged along with FICA and Medicare. Turbo Tax doesn't like this and says we can't "e-file" in this situation?? Why not??
Also when I wanted to use a credit card to pay for e-filing it asked me to enter my "account" information. I entered my email and it said no one by that email has an account. So I went to create an account and used the same email - and it said I already have an account....??????? Oh well - I just used the "guest" access then and everything worked fine.
What's great about it: Easy to use and understand
What's not so great: How to handle W2's with no income for working Elections, pain to try and setup an Intuit account

Turbo Terrific

TuboTax is a wonderful tool. I have used it for many years. I would like to see Turbo Tax seminars given prior to tax time centered around the US. I think we could learn much more and understand how the new years software might differ from other years.
What's great about it: Makes Tax time so much easier
What's not so great: Would like to find tax questions more readily
