TTax Premier

For most normal investments TTax is useful and easy to understand. I was hoping for more complex investments it would handle them more completely. It does not appear to do so even though I spent the extra money for Premier.
What's great about it: works great for stocks and some investments and basic stuff
What's not so great: For limited Partnerships its not clear what is required and the terminology is very confusing.

What I expect from Turbo Tax

I have been using Turbo Tax for years and gained enough faith in the resulting tax filing information that I no longer feel the need to check the information line by line. I generally know what I expect that Turbo Tax will be capturing and by using the step by step process I can tell that Turbo Tax is meeting those expectations. I know of a least two instances where Turbo Tax correctly dealt with a situation that I would have done incorrectly had I been filing by hand.
What's great about it: I definitely like the step by step process. It provides a level of comfort that I did not miss anything.
What's not so great: The area of investment expenses was a bit confusing but the help screens provided what I needed.

Great for most - Doesn't make the tax code simple

The interface gets a little better each year and for 99% of the people it will run through things in a snap (if you have all your papers together). I had an odd retirement transaction around transfers with IRAs and while I got it entered, it seemed overly difficult with questions that did not seem to apply. But on the other hand, if I had been doing this myself it would have been worse and I wouldn't trust a typical tax preparer to even understand the situation. Once again (10+ years) Turbotax has walked me though and gotten this tedium done as quickly as possible.
What's great about it: Handles most situations
What's not so great: Complex tax transactions are still complicated and require some tax knowledge

Best Way to Go

I've been using Turbo Tax for so many years now; it is the only way I go. I feel very confident that I will have every deduction that is available for me. I recommend Turbo Tax to all my friends (I find that some just don't trust themselves doing their own return) but I tell them you can't go wrong with Turbo Tax!
What's great about it: The easiest way to prepare a tax return. Absolutely everything is covered.
What's not so great: Can't find any cons at all.

Very Helpful

I have used both TurboTax and the main competitor. I prefer this one as it is more streamlined and efficient. But the TurboTax window wouldn't budge when I tried to get to my email behind it so I had to make side by side windows to verify. Slowed things down a bit.
What's great about it: Explanations are clear and the process efficient
What's not so great: Just an odd quirk
