Turbotax is, well turbo. It drags the info from one year to the next, so I don't have to type my address unless I have moved. (I haven't) It knows my credit union address too. .It lets me import from TD Ameritrade. It is smarter than I am, and I don't mind admitting it. I can go as far as I feel like, then go to bed and work on it the next day. Or see if the meat loaf is ready. It waits for me.
And I get a refund!
What's great about it: It is fast
What's not so great: It doesn't work with Windows XP. There used to be an option to find a specific form and go right to that.

Pretty good, needs help w/ importing mutual funds
on March 7, 2016

I've used the program many times, and after the first, the process dealing with rental property and importing of mutual funds and stock buying and selling went a lot easier than last year. Carryover of old data, especially passive loss carryover seemed much better. Overall I'm pleased, but I wish the auto importing of mutual funds information separated the companies correctly. The way the program did it, did not group the funds by company name i.e., Fidelity, Vanguard, etc. They appear jumbled slightly. Questions were fairly easy to answer but a few threw me for a loop. Still, I got thru it.
What's great about it: Fairly easy to use, somewhat comprehensive with Rental property carryover info
What's not so great: A few W4 questions didn't make sense for me. Too much up selling to buy unneeded audit defense and state efiling

What's great about it: Picks up stuff from prior year. Easy data entry.
What's not so great: You keep raising the price for a version that does less and less. I'm considering switching to another software next yea

Makes it make sense

I'll get Turbo Tax year after year. I like the year over year comparison, but they only show up (the detailed version) at the end, and it would be nice to see it earlier in the process to know if I'm along the same lines as previous years, e.g., why I was eligible for some deductions in previous years but not this year.
What's great about it: Step by Step, makes it simple
What's not so great: Search feature - first opens a web page, then allows you to jump to section.

Quick and Easy

I've been using TurboTax for years. I'm confident that it is just as thorough as going to a tax prep company. I like the step by step approach, and I don't feel the need to do it all in one night. I can fill out what I know and wait for all my tax forms to finish it. and E filing rocks!
What's great about it: Thorough Steps
What's not so great: Still takes time to complete

Many happy returns

Pros and cons say it all. Really easy to go through the process. My only complaint was that the State section isn't broken down like the Federal section is. I did not finish on the first go-through and had flagged a section to return to for Federal. When I went to the State section, I had to go through the whole process again and answer questions I had answered previously. No big deal, just remembering what i had entered at my last session. Sure would have been nice to be able to see the sections and choose the one I wanted to edit. Other than that, another successful year of filing!
What's great about it: Easy to file taxes, just go step by step
What's not so great: Wish that State filing had sections to access like Federal
Pros: I had a baby
