Turbox Tax--used for years

used Turbo tax for years. like the similarity from year to year. like the companionship of Quicken and Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: like the format that is the same year to year

Using windows 10 was a major problem to get updated. The updater froze and would not work. It was a process to fix. I hope they address this for next year.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Hard to update
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

TurboTax shines once again

Dedicated TurboTax user for many years - mostly (but not always) great satisfaction. That track record brings me back. At the end of the day I end up with getting my fairly complex multi state returns done - and done right.
This year's version worked smoothly for me and presented no challenges. Always a pleasure to get to that conclusion. Now if it could only make my deserved tax bill go away......
What's great about it: Easy to navigate, asks helpful questions
What's not so great: Didn't encounter any this year

I trust the tubo tax

Simple explanation .. and easy to use software. I have been using Turbo Tax for last 16 years.. I do my own tax now then paying someone else to do.
What's great about it: Very specific to the area.. and detail

Line 8b

I did my dad's fairly simple tax return and over-all Turbo Tax was easy and convenient. My only issue was with Form 1040 Line 8b. When I zoomed into that line to find out where the numbers came from, it didn't tell me that the line 8b came from the my dad's two 1099-INT Box 13s subtracted from Box 8s PLUS a 1099-DIV Box 10. It just kept sending me to the 1099-INT worksheet, while ignoring 1099-DIV entirely. I had to delete each 1099-INT to see what number was left to figure it out.
What's great about it: Fairly easy navigation
What's not so great: Took a day to figure out how Turbo Tax calculated Line 8b

Every year I worry more about identity theft of information & read Turbo Tax has been compromised. Please keep security as high as possible.
Miss E- failing Federal taxes & State Taxes together with no fee for State return. Would be willing to pay more for Turbo Tax every year if it included free e-filing for both.

What's great about it: Step by step questions & tips
What's not so great: Alway struggle with local LST entry (Pa Local Srvice Tax) never seems to be addressed under other taxes area.
