I felt like the request/notice data from my last Turbo Tax was being down loaded was obscure at best, There should be a direct question concerning whether or not you want to down load data for institutions instead of waiting until you are in a subject such as reporting interest. In the past the section summaries listed last years numbers with this years as you went from section to section. I found that helpful to jog my memory as to what I might have skipped. Go into a issue about reporting foreign tax credits and I felt like 'assistance' did not exist. Just keep guessing until the program accepted the responses! In the past you saved the data throughout the entry process, it looks like this is only done on user demand or exit from the program.
What's great about it: Installed and ran flawlessly. Download of institutional data a blessing.
What's not so great: A bit obtuse at points
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Oddities

First, what a pleasure not to have to be hooked to the internet to password protect my file. However, when I did save my return with a password, I could not scroll beyond the Security Question Answer window. So I had to just tab and hope it taped to the correct button and hit enter.
Also I am not sure why when it knows I am over 70.5 and have no earned income the system asks if I want to consider a contribution to an IRA. Without earned income, one can not contribute to an IRA!
I wanted my CA amount due auto withdrawn from my checking account (the same account that my fed refund is going to). But I can't find a way to add the information as to when and where the CA amount due is to be withdrawn. So I will have to mail the return and include a check.
And when I printed my returns to be mailed no Turbo Tax sheet was printed for the federal return to tell me where to mail it.
What's great about it: Didn't have to be on-line to password protect my file
What's not so great: When adding password, couldn't scroll down to the continue button.

Last year I had trouble going back to edit areas. This year I did not have that problem. This year TT was much more straight forward although perhaps the result of that was missing one deduction as mentioned above.
What's great about it: I have used TT for several years and I like it.
What's not so great: Somehow it did miss a tax deduction this year?

My 2015 Experience
on March 7, 2016

I am a user for many years and continue to like the ease of use and thorough approach to completing my tax. Importing my investment company's 1099 saved an incredible amount of time. Detailed walkthrough is a very effective way to catch items you may forget, especially with the last year comparison amount display. I would have omitted the key medical expense that resulted in a savings of over $2,000 except for that feature.
I miss the feature that allows me to return to the exact point where I saved my return when I must step away from the return. A minor irritant, but we used to have this.
What's great about it: Really liked detailed walkthrough steps. Use of last year comparison jogged my memory and saved me over $2,000
What's not so great: Wish we would be brought back to specific point where we left off.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
