Prep and Patience are Rewarded

I have been using TurboTax longer than I can remember, probably 20+ years? Middle class and approaching retirement, own our home, have investments... So ours is not a simple return, but Turbo tax has let me self prep for many years now. I used to take my completed (TT) work past a local CPA for a final sniff test, but except for the confidence factor, nothing was ever found to need fixing' so I stopped wasting my $$.
As noted in my "CONS" above, it's not perfect. I'd give it a 99/100 on handling 1099 reporting. Several of us last year had issues matching up reported 1099 commodity fund sales codes. On start up I'm still being asked about a foreign fund we sold years ago. This is isolated descriptive/ artifact type stuff, somewhat annoying, but in the end ignore-able. The math is solid, and over the years has instilled a lot of confidence.
What's great about it: Straightforward and Easy to Use
What's not so great: Weirdness can occur...

I've been using TurboTax for 7 years and think it's outstanding tax return tool. This year was the fastest yet.
What's great about it: Step by Step Simple Questions
What's not so great: Still don't have all my financial institutions available to download forms

Whew - it's done!

The program works well and seems to cover all of the bases. I especially like the fact that it can suck in the information from a brokerage which saves time and effort in entering a bunch of data.
When I initially entered my income information, including an IRA rollover, the total income included the rolled over funds. After I went back in and made a change to conform to a corrected form, everything was all right.

What's not so great: Was confused initially by the income total.

Slick transfer

I've used TurboTax for several years, and if such a program were not available, I would be unable to prepare my own personal income taxes! Notwithstanding my familiarity with requirements, etc. Tax laws are constantly changing, and TurboTax takes away much of my worry about math errors and omitting a supporting form, etc.
What's great about it: I love the feature that allows TurboTax to import information from investment firms directly onto the proper tax forms

My taxes were complicated this year with the death of my spouse, investments, and multiple properties. I've been dreading doing my taxes this year and thought i would have to go to a professional for help but TurboTax Premier made everything so easy. Thank you!!!

Pretty painless

This year's tax return went really quickly, even though our tax situation are fairly complicated (regular income, business income, lots of charitable deductions, investment. Throughout the year I enter dedication on a spreadsheet, which let's me stay organized and not forget anything when it comes to do my taxes.
What's great about it: fast, and I feel confident it was correct
What's not so great: I really wish you didn't have to scroll back to the bottom to complete the next step once you complete a step

Help that went the Extra Mile

After initially having trouble downloading the software from CD to my Mac but eventually succeeding I entered all my tax info to the software. It was at this point that I discovered that I was unable to print copies of my returns. The forms all printed, unfortunately 32 pages, but they had no information. I had planned to efile, but feared that if my info wasn't on the forms to print, it might not go to the IRS and my State either. I called your 800 Help number and got a very helpful Tech named Lisa who walked me through exactly what I needed to do to print forms that actually held information and now I felt confident that I could efile my taxes and have in fact done so! I'm most greatful!
What's great about it: An IT tech named Lisa really helped me when I needed it most!
What's not so great: Had difficulty downloading Software to my computer and later had trouble printing !
